Any other suggestions? In the market for a 27" monitor to hook up to the new laptop. Bit of a higher budget then OP.
Sorry for jacking but figured i would not make an identical thread.

I'm not a big fan of the current "shiny screen" displays.
Decided to go for a used Apple Cinema HD display (the one from 2006 I think?)
I paid just under $300, and while I am sure the apple name is a premium for it, the image quality far surpasses my newer samsung/asus/sony monitors and tv's, but resolution-wise is not quite there.

x2 on the XL2420T, this thing is fucking stupid awesome, NCIX let us have it for the entire team at Lancouver. Couldn't keep it though :okay:
Colour reproduction is awesome, refresh rate is a true 120hz, pivot & swivel, does not creek and crack when you move it around, its brilliant.

[Merged] Various Korean Branded 27" 2560x1440 S-IPS LCDs $280-450 US Shipped (Ebay) - RedFlagDeals.com Forums (http://forums.redflagdeals.com/merged-various-korean-branded-27-2560x1440-s-ips-lcds-280-450-us-shipped-ebay-1146004/)
I don't have any firsthand experience, but a friend of mine ordered one and says it's a fantastic screen. There's also the 37 pages to read through.

korean 1440p monitors are excellent value
but losing out on the HAS stand/portrait mode and more importantly the 3 year advanced replacement warranty (at least from dell) is a fairly big deal because it's hard to have good QA with most IPS panels. I mean backlight bleeding is something you can check out of the box...but pixel dying after a few months might be something you'll just have to live with. IIRC most of these displays are the ones that didn't make the cut to become your Apple Cinema Display, NEC PA27, Dell Ultrasharp.
If you buy korean make sure it has a decent rma process if it has issues out of the box. Otherwise I'd go for the U2312HM for $180 or U2412HM if you want 16:10 for $250
Anyone know how the Samsung S23A700DSL stacks up against the BenQXL24OT?

BUMP
Maybe someone more techy than me can help me out.
What I want: minimum 1080P/IPS/preferably 24 inches. Will be used for playing some video games but lots of data entry (excel/word) and web browsing as well. I was looking at this:
Dell - S2440L 24-inch Full HD Monitor with LED : Computer Components | Dell Canada (http://accessories.dell.com/sna/products/Monitors_Flat_Panel_Widescreen/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=cadhs1&sku=320-9801&~ck=baynoteSearch&baynote_bnrank=6&baynote_irrank=0) Dell S440L my main gripe is I haven't seen this in real life so I have no idea how it looks.
Pros: Looks sweet (build wise) -- edge to edge glass
Cons: No features as far as connectivity options/usb hubs etc. go. Also stand is very basic, only has tilt.
Or
Asus PA238QR
ASUS PA238QR 23IN Widescreen LED Backlit IPS LCD Monitor 1920X1080 6MS 50M:1 HDMI DisplayPort HAS (http://ncix.com/products/?sku=69432&vpn=PA238QR&manufacture=ASUS)
Pros: Tons of inputs, can hook up my macbook pro easily, HDMI + headphone out so I can hook up headphones easily + built in USB hub. Sweet stand. Cheaper price, available locally (don't have to order)
Cons: Only 23 inches -- don't know if that little one inch difference really matters though.
Anyone own either or, or have any input? Gonna order tomorrow. I can't live with 1440x900 on my PC anymore, feels like I'm living in poverty land
EDIT: Also you guys looking at the korean screens keep in mind a lot of them require dual link DVI .. might be cheaper to get name brand rather than buy korean + a good video card with dual dvi

you said you want ips thats not an ips monitor.
HP and LG does have ips led monitors

if you do lot of word processing most prefer 16:10...which is the default for most IPS 24"
but you want it ASAP so I think the asus will be good if you don't mind word processing on 16:9 (more tailored for media like games and movies)

Bumping an old thread.
I'm looking for an all in one monitor. One that I can play ps3 and PC games in. Also for watching movies occasionally. Right now I have an old t260. Nothing wrong with it but the 16:10 aspect ratio makes ps3 games stretched out and look weird. So I'm looking for a replacement, preferably something at least 26". Any suggestions?
