i'll wait till they return the 8 series and make the 9 series. prob go back to 0 series if they don't plan on going double digits :lawl:
That's actually pretty sick looking

it looks nice. thats the gran coupe so the regular 2 series would be a 2 door.
i think bmw is changing all their 2 door cars to have even number designations(2series, 4 series, 6 series) and all four door cars to have odd number designation. so the next m3 coupe would be called the m4 i belive(sounds stupid)

haha i do like it... but just trying to imgaine it smaller than the current 3 series.... hmmm i havnt tried the new F30, but my experiences with the E90 back seats are... well.. ya and I am not even tall.. like avg 5'11 170LBs.....
moving on though... I like it... it has the lower E92 M3 front bumper and the new 6 series tail... =P

F30 is considerably larger than the E90 - dimensions are closer to E39 5 series...especially the back seat.
...I like the look of the new 2 series though!

Can't forget the 4 series and 4 series coupe, and no 3 series coupe because the 4 series coupe is supposedly replacing it. Seriously BMW is starting to make no sense at all with all these new models and another piss off is all the interiors are basically the same all the way up to the 7 series, so much for exclusivity.

This is just boring.
Those BMWs look the same. Back in the day, when we had just 3, 5 and 7 series...we could tell the difference.
But 1 series and 3 series were close enough that people couldn't tell the difference...now 2 series. They need to give each car more distinctive design or feature.

Looks nice, but I hope they are not going to follow MB and produce a million different models... Smart, A-Class, B-Class, C-Class, E-Class, CLS-Class, S-Class, CL-Class, GL-Class, ML-CLass, G-Class (the best), GLK-Class, SLK-Class, SL-Class, SLS-Class, and I'm sure I'm missing a few more, lol...

The new designs are cleaner and prettier in an understated way, I miss the bangle era tho (E90,E60) where every series have a distinct look. I know some of the design was not so great but the 5 series especially the E60 M5 still look great. Wide stance, flashy styling.
I think the F10 M5 is almost like an improvement over the E39 M5 styling wise and engineering wise, pick up where the E39 left off and moved it on, whereas the E60 was a totally different rendition of M5 (gone with the understate classiness, in with flashy style, F1 style V10, F1 SMG gearbox)
I personally love the F1 era M cars and the Bangle era styling that goes with them, might not be what traditional M enthusiast like but its something that stands out if not for the better... I am gonna keep the M3 for a long time and hope to add an E60 M5 someday :ahwow:

I agree, BMW has gone nuts with all these new series and the worst part is the interiors look the same using the same bits and pieces, there's no more exclusivity between the different models.

I don't really like the current 3 series, it's gotten a bit big and chunky. It almost looks like the size of the E39 5's. I guess cars all grow over time, but the 1 is the 'new' 3 IMO. Don't think of 3 and 4 series as different models, they are really 2 and 4 door versions of the 'old' 3 series. It's not that bad, just a number

Its kind of unfortunate in a way though because bmw has now strayed from their classic models even further. I don't want an m4. It doesn't have nearly 30 years of unbelievable racing history. I know its just a name, but still, history means something, and bmw as of lately has been shitting on their own history, by putting an M wherever it feels like. I still like BMW, and if it came down to it its not going to be the reason I do or don't buy one, but it just seems like when you have had this format and all of the history behind it, why change it for no reason?

They're kinda like Accord and Camry...no big deal.

Just because more people own them, doesn't make them less special. There are entry level and there are high end, like any typical brand of car.

imo, BMWs are now just nice mainstream cars. Even M cars are just really nice daily drivers...but not special at all.......same will happen to Porsche as they go volume........

As far as I am concerned, BMW peaked here:
http://jhwe.zenfolio.com/img/v11/p889571986-6.jpg
It's all downhill from here... electric power steering, forced induction, etc. Not to say they wont be awesome cars, but there is something about an 8500rpm V8 that just says BADASS.

I feel the same, history means alot to BMW. I lost so much respect for them when they decided to put a v8 in the e92 m3. Why not put in a proper straight six like the original M3's matched with a good chassis. Not saying the E92 is a bad car but BMW has always been good with straight six engines and its heartbreaking to see them drift away from that with the new M line.

The original M3 had a 2.3L 4 cyl. I don't mind engines getting bigger and more powerful, as long as the maintain that high strung feel the s14 made a name for itself with. The problem I have is just the concentration on comfort over driver feel. I appreciate it is business, and understand their motives, but it just isn't so much for me anymore. I swear to god, if you put a brand new m3 in front of me, and a decent e30 m3 in front of me. One worth close to 90k and the e30 worth about 20k. I'd take the e30 every time, and not give the slightest shit about the cash difference. Just for fun, some eye candy, and yes, other than the wheels, which are basically only an inch bigger version of the original RS on the car, this car is STOCK:sweetjesus:

It does, but at some point, you have to move on to keep up with the Jones'. With emission standards getting ever tighter, competitors stuffing larger more powerful engines into competing models, and a straight 6 already more or less strung to its limits for reliable daily driving, really you have no option but to increase displacement or go FI. You have to acknowledge the history, but you also can't lean on that history forever and expect not to get left in the dust. FWIW it seems like the new M3 will be going back to an i6, a blown one at that, which will leave some purists longing for the old NA V8.

Let's face the M brand is watered down now....all M cars are now produced on the same assembly line as regular BMW's....big shift and huge cost savings. All BMW has to do is launch the CSL line to appease all the old school M fans...that includes me!
