the article just mentions it's possible within 12 months..so the final nail the coffin isn't in yet
too many BSOD'd sandforce SSDs and blown PSU was their ultimate demise :troll:

Hm, I thought OCZ was doing pretty well.
all i remember about them were their shitty mail in rebates that they never delivered on or did after 6 months of hounding them...
i had one bad experience with ocz that kept me from buying their products forever.
had a power supply less than 2 years old that stopped working, called to RMA it, and they asked for the store receipt. said i didnt have it, and they said they couldnt honor the RMA.
in this day and age where all records are kept electronically and every product has a serial number, i just see this as their way of processing less RMAs, and trying to save their company money without trying to deliver a positive customer experience.
had the total opposite experience with corsair and a 3.5yr old PS that was making electrical noises. the warranty is 4 years and so i only had 6 months left. they sent me a brand new one no questions asked.
Shitty customer service, shitty mail-in rebates, shitty products ...
Who gives a fuck?
^-people that want to see them go bankrupt :troll:

ocz vertex 2 owned for less than 1 year died. RMA't it no problem. Second brnad new OCZ drive dies AGAIN in less than 1 year.. This time in my RMA request I stated that i was unhappy and don't trust their shit. They sent me a newer drive instead. OCA agility 3. Seems to be stable so far.. haven't owned it for 1 year yet though. -_-

+1 on bad Mail in rebates, I never got my $20 MIR. I called them and they said it was given/used.. when I never even received it.
My two year old OCZ PSU still running strong though.

I got my rebates sent into a place in San Francisco, same as a Asus rebate. Haven't got both yet, it's been 2 months.

They should have stuck with making RAM. I don't know, I always enjoyed using their RAM. Pretty reliable imo.
i remember the big stink was that they used a 3rd party rebate company to "process" them and they didn't process most of them. it was a little bit of a scandal when someone found the rebates that were supposed to be processed in a dumpster and it leaked online on a forum. i can't remember the details it was back 4 years or so...

All I can say is....
Buy those Vertex 4's while you can, there won't be any more.

never had a fail OCZ product. Do you know they sell modified CPU back in the AMD Duron/Althon age (2001)? I had a couple even though their CS sucks, but I like it.
:fuuuuu: now we have to pay expensive corsair psus

never saw this coming,
i've bought multiple ocz products over the last 5 years and nothing ever gave me problems,
and I got all my MIR too, I thought it was a good company.

I hope it doesn't happen. They make really good products. Blame SandForce if you think their drives are crap. They were always the first to use the controller, which led to all the problems with reliability...
BTW if you want to thank one company for driving SSD prices down the most, this is who you should thank.
Of course, that may have cost them their business so.... :derp:
i guess i should RMA my ram soon

I have zero problems with OCZ products from SSD's, RAM, to flash drives. Have not had any one die nor have had any rebate issues and I've owned a lot of their products. Gonna be sad to see them go.

No problems with OCZ products. Very sad if they go under because OCZ is the reason why we have all these fast SSD at really low prices. If it wasn't for Vertex 2, 3 and 4, we wouldn't be at $1/gb so soon

I personally don't have any problems with OCZ, but I don't have too many products from them.
But their MIR seemed to have really bad reputation.

I feel the same way, but their MIR isn't too bad. They seem to be ridiculously slow. I had one mid-September and just received it yesterday.

^ 6 weeks is considered pretty fast for OCZ
anyways i thought all companies use 3rd party rebate processing

MIRs are always slow, everyone knows that. OCZ is no faster or slower than anyone else. And they aren't even the ones who process them.
If you had a problem with OCZ products, fine. If you don't like the MIR policy, don't buy products with an MIR.
But to wish ill will towards a company that has hundreds or thousands of people working there who are about to lose their jobs is pretty fucked up, imo

In the beginning of the year, I bought a 120GB Vertex 3 drive with $10 MIR. Vertex 3 has been running fine in my MBP *knock on wood*, and I got my $10 MIR. The MIR came as an AMEX gift card, but still $10.

Yeah, I try my best to stay away from MIR.
It peeves me how NCIX advertises something is $xxx.xx after MIR, when really,
that's not true, cause I have to pay tax on the before MIR price. :okay:
Got so annoying, I just decided to not deal with MIR.

No problems here - have 4 OCZ SSD's in raid for the last year and a half - no problems so far
