I think the other alternative is hotmail. Pretty sure yahoo is on the bottom of the list.

Hotmail? :troll: I mean, Outlook.

I have other accounts, but its just convenient to use Gmail because it's single sign-on for not only Google services like Google Docs, Google Code, but also some third-party sites.

If I didn't need it for school, I would probably use an alternative, but there aren't many good options out there for non-work emails.

I use hotmail because my personal account (that I made back in 2002) is hotmail. I still use MSN as well.
Also, I was able to create my name (without added numbers) to a @hotmail.ca account for work/business.
Nice and clean. I made one for gmail, but someone took my name already and I didn't like adding in underscores and numbers.
And I also have 2 emails for miscellaneous stuff, like registering things with, or using CL.
They're accounts that I can just drop any time with no strings attached, which they can go collect spam for all I care.

And all these hotmail accounts are conveniently linked up.

If it weren't for those reasons though, I would use gmail. Gmail is better.
