| New York Blackout Kills Phones, Revives Ancient Art Of Actually Speaking To People New York Blackout Kills Phones, Revives Ancient Art Of Actually Speaking To People
"Once considered on the verge of extinction, face-to-face conversation, reading books, playing board games and even stargazing saw a resurgence in New York City this week thanks to spotty cell phone service, dark apartments and gadgets constantly in need of a charge."

Face to face interaction is slowly drifting away especially when ppl are always on facebook and other internet gathering. My office secretary tells me how many 'friends' she has on facebook and wants to add me... I said" dont have one, you want to talk to me... Call me and ask me out' hahaha...
Get to know ppl in person and speak to them and realize if they are your 'friends'.
This comment has nothing to do with new york disaster, just my 2 cents. I wish everyone there a speedy recovery and sorry for their loss. Posted via RS Mobile |

There was this chick at my Halloween party who came with one of my friends and she was on her phone ALL night. Had I known her a bit better, I would've taken it away. Not really sure why, but I found it super annoying. Don't ask to come to my party if you aren't going to socialize.

It's whack if you meet people and are on your phone...that's just rude...but I don't think the majority of us interact with one another via mobile devices because that's what we want to do...it's just convenience. We're busy fucking people...who has the time to meet in person and shit?
I love having my friends with me on Whatsapp groups...like we're together and talking all the time. I hate it when old people say that cell phones make us anti-social or whatever. If anything, technology makes us more social. I've met so many people that I otherwise wouldn't because of the internet.

^ it makes us more social via social network but at the same time the convenience is making many people more awkward in face to face situation. so it's a mixed bag

yea super unfortunate that living by the wire has taken over peoples lives. It amazes me how often when i chat with someone via text or voice, that person seems so outgoing and fun, then meeting them in person spells disaster, bores the heck out of me.
brb, my friends are coming over to play on their phones later.

Posted via RS Mobile | I get a crack of morons who are actually proud of having more friends on their fb than others. I mean how many of them do you actually even fucking know? My life is busy enough that all I need are some very close trustworthy friends around me. Fuck I don't even have time to spend with 10 people.

I find that I'm working a lot, my friends are working, or studying a lot that even if we find a night to go out on its a damn miracle to match everyone's schedule. That being said sometimes social networking like whatsapp to socialize is good way to keep in touch while being busy and on the go all the time. There are always good sides and downsides to things but to me as of now I think the upsides are the only things I'm aware of. Posted via RS Mobile |

no one is arguing social media makes keeping in touch with what our friends are doing much more accessible
it's about having some respect when you are out with a group of friends to not be on your phone >50% of the time

yeah well you guys better get used to it, cuz it aint going away lol.
in the future they wont even need to be on their phones, it'll just be like, in their glasses or hooked up in their head.
they could just be pretending to pay attention but surfing the web in their head.
get over it. evolution. adapt. this is the new way.
i find younger kids than me are on the phone a lot more than me, and i'm on my phone A LOT.
but then i just realise, only half my life i've been connected. they've been connected their whole lives. what do u expect? it's their 100% way of life.
reality is what you make of it. there are many realities. some are over the internet/phone/connected. some are outside on the beach. some are alone in your workshop/garage.
but for certain, all those realities are just as real as the next. they are something real you experience and interact with.
yeah, sometimes I think it's rude if someone is on their phone like ALL the time when in a group. but then sometimes i'm with groups where everyone is just on the phone, no one cares. lol. why should you care.
i mean, maybe they're just bored. instead of paying attention to you guys, they could just be day dreaming. or staring at the clock or thinking about what they're gonna do later.
