Toyota conducted a one-week study on the acquisition months ago. They have proceeded no further.

I don't see why Toyota would want Aston.

To be fair, it would be good for Aston Martin to be owned by someone like Toyota. They have the resources and money to help keep them afloat. The engine from the LFA would be a good base to replace their aging Ford-based engines as well.

As long as Aston Martins still look like Aston Martins, I honestly have nothing against it.

But if it'll be anything like what happened when this...

Turned into this...

they certainly benefited from ford ownership for 20 years. They really need some ownership with some R&D resources. If im not mistaken their V12 is basically just 2 for duratec v6s which theyve been using for over 10 years.

The new Vanquish is already way slower and just as expensive as its competition, they can only get by on looks for so long.

At least it's not like Maserati who will be building cars on the Chrysler 300 platform.

Toyota would not acquire a foreign auto company. The company is far too insular.

Aston will either be purchased by TATA, a Chinese company, or VAG if Ferdinand Piech is in a good mood.

Not quite the speed of the Aston but should have the reliability of the Toyota:

wouldn't mind an Aston Martin looking car being powered by a Corolla engine. Can't go fast in van anyways!

Might as well just close the Aston Martin down and let it leave behind a great legacy. Its better than having Toyota wreck it.

Might as well just close the Aston Martin down and let it leave behind a great legacy. Its better than having Toyota wreck it.

Chrysler owned Lamborghini at one point in time. The Diablo was made during their ownership.
Ford tried to purchase Ferrari in the 60s. Purcahse didn't go through, and ford made the legendary GT40 instead.
Ford purchased Aston Martin in the past during the Naser years(a series of retarded purchases and terrible management that drove Ford to the ground and they are just now recovering from it.)

It is not as big as a deal you made it out to be.
