Not sure what's worst...

Plasti dipping the whole car....or the fucked up wrap jobs that MM Design do....

^^it depends on how its done.. if you rattle can it at home than it will look like a piece of shit, but if you actually apply enough coats with a real spray gun than it could turn out legit

Fail job

^ exactly what I was gonna say..... I seen a guy on another forum do his G35, but the way he did it is he dilutted the plasti dip and put it in a normal off the shelf spray gun from Home Depot or Canadian Tire....

then he did it in his garage tried to make it dust free as possible, and the way it came out looked as good as vinyl, since it was diluted it didn't have the gunky consistency you get out of the spray can....

look into doing it using that method, I think most people would agree it's the only passable way of plasti dippin your whole car.... as you can see in the pic above Park posted, looks like vinyl

they have plastidip kits made especially for this kinda stuff. To say it looks horrible just means you don't know what your talking about.

https://www.dipyourcar.com/home.php i think its around 350 bucks includes gun, paint, tape etc.

Just because you have the materials doesn't mean it's going to come out like the Subaru - which is why the OP asked for a shop.

Still, I donno what car your buddy is trying to do (re: ruin), but either invest in a proper wrap job...but it does depend on the car I guess.

Does paint adhere to plasti-dip? What if you plasti-dip your car, then spray it with a coat of black & clear coat? (I'll never do it, just throwing out some ideas for others to consider who don't like the dull look of it)

Repaint it.

No wrap, No plasti-dip.

Almost the same amount of $ putting on anyways unless he wants to cheap out by doing DIY Plasti-dip the whole thing.

Just no to this... (from HOS Thread)

we sprayed my buddies front end when he was moving out to Edmonton, as a alternative to painters tape.
he bought so much extra, we ended up spraying the whole car for kicks, and to be honest, it didn't look bad at all...
let me see if I can dig up some pics

I also read some people claiming their clearcoat got damaged when removing plastidip so be careful.

Yeah, it's those people who used a power washer to remove the plastidip

BE WARNED!!!! Dipp DOES eat the Clear Coat!!! (http://www.dipyourcar.com/forums/showthread.php?662-BE-WARNED!!!!-Dipp-DOES-eat-the-Clear-Coat)!!!

Good forum for all your plastidip questions.

I would assume for the same reasons people get their cars wrapped. When they want they can "peel" it all off and reveal their factory fresh paint underneath, back to stock.

$300 for plasti dip first investment so add another couple hundred so i figure about $500 for whole car someone would do it for. thats a lot cheaper then wrap or new paint

plus i have seen many plastidipped cars that look just like vinyl. the ugly ones are amateurs doing it with cans. check out the nice ones and the guys that think its ugly will change their mind

No, I still think it's ugly.

Especially all those out there trying to matte black their cars.
Dont get me wrong....matte black looks hot.....but only on certain cars.
And I'm not talking about Civics or R8s.

The plastidip job on the Wrangler isn't that great. The rear didn't come out nice and you can see faint spray lines on the side.

I agree with getting your car painted professionally, yes it'll cost more but it'll look 100x better and just be cautious with pictures posted on the net.
