I subscribed to GamePro because the issues were thick as fuck. Even though 1/2 the magazine were ads, I still felt I got my $$$ worth :fullofwin:

For me it was Nintendo Power subscription all the way (starting with the free copy of Dragon Warrior since nobody was buying RPGs yet) and the occasional copy of GamePro or EGM from the news stand after seeing how fricken thick they were :lawl:

I did Nintendo Power because i got a half a year free once. so i continued for a bit after.

But i have a closet full of GamePro... like sooo many years worth. before the internet thats how i got my game news.

I never subscribed. I just went to 711's and newspaper stands as a kid and read them all lol. Then I'd peek to the penthouse mag sitting on the top right corner.

I loved Nintendo Power. Got me hooked on the chats they did every Friday as a kid. Ended up winning a Mario Kart Double Dash shirt signed by a bunch of the staff because I won one of their contest things.

I remember going grocery shopping with my mom only because one of the highlights was to browse the magazine section reading EGM, Nintendo Power, Gamepro etc.. My mom would never buy a copy. Would spend like 20 mins easily reading all of them and trying so hard to remember the cheats hahaha

TBH I don't recall ever seeing Nintendo Power on the news stands before... For me it was all about EGM (didn't like Gamepro). I do recall my friend and I getting busted for trying to steal an EGM from Overwaitea. His mom blamed me of course, I got blamed every time he got caught doing something bad...

Wow... Brings me way back. My older bro subscribed to Nintendo Power back when we had a NES.

I always read the Mario and A Link to the Past comics every issue.
Unfortunately, my brother stopped subscriptions before the end of the comic so now I'll never know what happens.

i remember seeing the very first screens from ocarina of time, drooled over every issue with coverage after that until my dad finally brought home the gold cart on release day :D

too bad i lost the original gold one i had, bought another off ebay but not the same :/
