| Cell Phone for Parents
I am looking to buy a couple of new cell phone for my parents, they are using a SE W810i and Motorola K1 right now. It's so ghetto and old and I think it's time for them to upgrade.
They are on Fido prepaid and only use their cell for short calls so they don't need no iPhone or S3. What would you guys suggest?
Thanks in advance.

iPhone. It's so easy to use. And cheap. And useful not just as a phone. Posted via RS Mobile |

Just got my mom a flip phone. Also fido pre-paid. Short calls. She does not have to bother about pocket dial / pressing butons to start/end call. simple as motherhood and apple pie. Overview | Phones & Devices | Shop | Fido.ca

iPhone. My grandparents learned how to use it within a day, mom has one, dad just got one...they really are intuitive and easy to use, whether they use it a lot or not. Big screen, big numbers, easy to read everything.

Just got my dad and mom LG optimus 2x with ICS ($100usd in Asia). They love it so much as they can simply hook up the HDMI cable with the TV and browser photos.
iPhone 4 is also recommended, but if your parents can't see that well with that tiny screen, it's no good.

I got my mom a blackberry. It's hard to fuck up, and she loves the keyboard. Quote:
I just need to type my friends' names and then their phone number comes up, and then all I have to do is press the green phone!

Honestly it really doesn't matter, but you should ask them what they like (keyboard, touchscreen, bright, small, big, wide). It will narrow your search and its really different when you're holding a phone you feel comfortable with even though you don't use it on a casual basis

I would say take them to bestbuy or somewhere and let them choose. They are the one who are using the phone. So let them test run it and tell them everything about it including things that they think they have no use or you think they are not going to use. ie: App stores, browsers etc..
What I've noticed with many parents is that they have use for many things like Whatsapp, Skype, Instagram, Facebook etc.. It's just that they dont' know where to start and their kids usually dismiss it and said they don't need it. I'm not saying the OP is like that but yeah phone is quite personal so let them choose
But to answer your question. Sony Xperia Go (android phone with water, dust and impact resistant) is a pretty good choice. Although the screen is kindna small but yeah good price point and available at Fido in white and black locked or outright at Sony Style in Yellow

imo a Windows Phone would be the best choice, very easy to use and very easy to see, this was a concern for me picking a phone for my dad, and very responsive (my parents get confused with lag)
you dont need the lumia 920 you could get the 820 (which is the better phone imo) or the Lumia 620 but the 620 wont be released until Jan
and silly me or one of the HTC windows 8 phones like the 8S which is a lot cheaper than the Lumias http://www.expansys.ca/htc-windows-p...locked-237412/ |

My Dad had an iPhone (which he barely knew how to use) but switched to a Gnex on Wind (which he really doesn't know how to use). Gave the iPhone to my Mom and she really enjoys it, so much so that she wants an iPad to replace her laptop. Says iOS makes sense to her and she isn't worried about screwing anything up, since she gets scared whenever Windows asks for permission to do something
