Watching your car burst into flames before your eyes is never good news, and it's even worse when you're mere moments away from trading it in at the local dealership. This Car-B-Q blaze apparently erupted at Acura 2000, a dealer in Brampton, Ontario. As the video tells us, the unlucky customer saw his 2004-2008 Acura TL trade-in suddenly catch fire and go up in resale-value-killing smoke.
According to the hyped-up cameraman (who evidently works next door at Northwest Lexus) and his eccentric play-by-play commentary, this Acura owner is about to be left without a ride home and might want to consider switching to a Lexus instead.
Scroll down to watch video of the drama unfolding as fire fighters put out the mysterious blaze before anyone - except the car - was harmed.Continue reading Acura TL bursts into flames moments before being traded in at Ontario dealership
This was on Autoblog and the redflagdeal link below is the cars owner posting. It caught on fire because Acura 2000 just did a power steering recall and the mechanic did not tighten up the hose which lead to the fire.
Acura/Honda is doing F**K all, :failed:

I actually investigated a fire here in Vancouver for Transport Canada where the dealer forgot to tighten the power steering line. Happens more than you think.
It caught on fire because Acura 2000 just did a power steering recall and the mechanic did not tighten up the hose which lead to the fire.
my accord has a similar recall :ohgodwhy:

I dont think he was trading it in like the annoying Lexus salesmen commentator was stating.
It was in for a recall and the owner went to pick it up............:suspicious:

I guess I'll have to put a dashcam in for the recall LOL

Was posted on Acurazine a bit back. Owner said he got compensated with little over the value of the car, more than he would've got if he sold it himself. Don't know where you guys are getting that acura wasn't doing anything about it
On a side note; wtf is up with the guy commentatimg "Acuoorra" "Tooth-past" :lawl:

Well, compensating for a little over the value of the car is not that great. It was a big mistake on their part, not fastening the hose......he could have been seriously harmed.
one time i was draining out power steering fluid out of my dads caravan and i got a ton of it on the exhaust manifold. i tried cleaning all that shit up with brake clean/ degreaser/ and a good wash but it still would smoke up as it heated up. after about 15 minutes i just gave up and went for a drive, and i could see the hood smoking and smelt terrible. I rinsed it off some more and after a long drive it finally stopped.
I thought the car was gonna go on fire :lol and i think honda just sent out that recall this month

As a TL owner, it hurts me to see that car on fire :okay:
So does mine, I went to Honda and they said they don't have parts to fix it till spring
yep. they did a "look over" to see if anything needed a temporary fix until the parts came...they said nothing was needed done.

You should check other locations. I carry the parts needed in our stock for at least 1 vehicle.

No you don't
We don't get the countermeasured parts until spring
The part you do have is incase someone has a leak
Any hoses replaced now will still need to be replaced in the spring anyway
