Anybody else have an electric shaver? I got the Philips RQ1150. I had a pretty good scruff going today, charged the bad boy for an hour or so and went at it dry.
Honestly, the thing is pretty crappy. Missed a lot of spots, took way longer than conventional shaving would have.
Is it this just me? Are shavers meant for people who don't grow much facial hair? Would it have made a huge difference if I had wet/put shaving cream on my face?

they are good if you shave every singe day. They are also nice if you don't shave for a bit take off some and the rest with a straight razor to help save blades.

used electric for most of my life due to convenience...recently switched to razor blades in the last couple of years...you'll never get as good a shave with an electric. it's more for convenience (and i guess better for the environment if you don't use shaving cream).
like murdoc said daily shaving should keep you fairly clean but once i tried manual i can't go back
books, clothes, hat, coffee, money

i've been using an electronic shaver all my life. i don't shave daily and let my shit grow. depending on your shaver, they may have recommendations on how to shave. i use braun series 5 and it specifically recommends shaving dry before washing your face or anything. and if its long, trim before shaving.

I gave up on electric shavers. My facial hairs are so thick, it clogs the shaver in seconds. Then it pulls my hairs........ when you're old, nose hairs and ear hairs grow so freakin' fast. You can't pluck 'em fast enough.
I use my father's folding blade to shave once in a while for the best shave any man can get.

I've had an electric for years, but it's use has been restricted to the trimmer all but a handful of times. It's impossible to achieve the close cut, perfectly clean, fresh feel, a razor shave gives using an electric. I've tried using it immediately after a shower, after one day unshaven, after a few days unshaven, same results every time.
If you love a good shave, you need to try a straight razor at some point. The gear is a bit pricey, but its totally worth it.

Kids got a lot, and I got money, plus some gift cards. Best gift of all was the gift of family. Not often does the family all gather in the same room = best Christmas present.
Perhaps next year, we can all get together somewhere for a mini meet. Someone's place where we can bring Christmas dinner...... sort of like a pot luck. My wife makes so much food on Christmas Day. I wouldn't mind sharing some of it after dinner with those who have no family or SO. At the end of it, we can offer Operation Red Nose for those who have a little too much fun, LOL.
And no, my house will not be that place. Wife will kill me, LOL.

- 47" LG LCD
- some Lego!
- Indiana Jones blu-ray set

- hard case for my pellet gun
