if you have a data plan of 1gb or more, then tethering is available free of charge, but obviously uses up your data cap

if u r on android and rooted, u can give the app "wifi tether for root users" a try. it lets u tether regardless of carrier settings

better be....... cuz i have to tether my iphone to my android
i haven't noticed any unusual charges and i tether pretty often
i'm not a big data user though and i'm usually hooked up to wifi wherever i go!
