My fat 80gb (with a 320gb drive installed) backwards compatible PS3 died on Tuesday.

Has anyone used “werepair.ca” on south west marine to do a reflow job on their PS3? Results? How long did it last? Review on Company?

I’m picking up a 320gb slim tonight, and will be doing a data transfer, but I’m a little concerned the PS3 wont live long enough after the reflow to get through it. I’m expecting at least 10-15 hours with 180gb of data to transfer.

Thanks!

if you are getting it fixed solely to get data transferred..I'd suggest to just do it yourself if you have the time and a heat gun (they are as cheap as $20-30). It's very straight forward

I thought about giving it a go, I repasted it myself a few years back. But with 5 years of saves on the line, I thought I’d let someone who has done this before do it so I don’t bugger it up.

Anyone use "werepair"?

reflows generally last around 3 months

whoever you go with, be sure they use no-clean flux on the PS3.

As far as I know, they just "reflow" it using a bench. I've actually been looking around to find a place that does reballing around Vancouver, can’t find one anywhere.

Some sites that use to show a reflow option don’t show that anymore, I assume because its just not permanent enough.

“werepair” really seems to be the only choice with an actual store front I can find. “playtimeservice” doesn’t seem to offer reflow anymore on their site, or spare parts.
