Aquaman star Vinnie Chase is back, baby. Warner Bros has tonight given the green light on a movie version of Entourage, the HBO series that ran from 2004-2011. That gives a reprise for the inside Hollywood exploits of the up and coming film star, his manager and agent, his under-appreciated TV actor brother and the childhood pal/driver who form his inner circle.

The film will be directed by series creator Doug Ellin, who wrote the screenplay and who exec produced the series with Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson. Deals are starting to be made with Adrian Grenier, who played Chase, Kevin Connolly, who played his manager Eric “E” Murphy, Kevin Dillon, who played the actor’s brother Johnny Drama, Jerry Ferrara, who played their entrepreneurial driver Turtle, and Jeremy Piven, who played the show’s iconic type A talent agent Ari Gold. I’m sure Drama’s agent Lloyd (Rex Lee), E’s girl Sloan (Emmanuelle Chriqui), his management partner Scott (Scott Caan), and their quirky director collaborator Billy Walsh (Rhys Coiro) and Ari’s agency partner Barbara Miller (Beverly D’Angelo) will all be in the mix, along with a swarm of real Hollywood talent, playing themselves.

Having never seen the show and having no context, I was going to say how fucking bad the movie looked... Then the twist of course, but I still have no idea what this movie is going to be about. I have to assume that it's literally unwatchable unless you have seen the entire series

I'm not sure you'll appreciate the film without watching the series. The series is overall pretty fun. No real plots- just friends hanging out and enjoying the Hollywood life. There's also the cameos as well. It's not unwatchable if you haven't seen the series, but you'll probably miss out on some of the nuance.

On a different note: I wonder how many cameos they're going for in 2+ hours. In that trailer there's already a million. Count the people who were on set and had pictures taken and posted to twitter, and you can imagine seeing a cameo every minute.

You're not alone, I've never watched an episode. It's one of those shows I always meant to watch but then it was into season 2 then 3 and I didn't want to start watching from the middle nor did I want to try and catch up.
