Hi Mods/Admins,

I would like to bring to your attention an example of loosely and somewhat implied racism that takes place in the RS Chat. This is perhaps a small glimpse of what goes on as it is not a fully moderated colosseum of social discussion. At times, the level of racism is beyond belief where users throw racial slurs around like wild apes.

And to boot, the quoted member below is a hypocrite and action should be taken against said user:

Perhaps the RS Chat feature should be reconsidered. An investigation into the matter is much appreciated and thank you for your time.

Mods don't care and racism is tolerated by selecting members. I reported a clearly racist post and nothing has been done about it.

Basically you can be racist and just hope the 10% chance a mod does care, it's not you they ban but someone else to say "they take it seriously".

agreed, ive met quite a few awesome people through there i wouldnt have otherwise. And hell it changed my opinion of rs a lot. (In a good way)

As a recently new member to RS I can say right now chat was one of the biggest tools to help me be apart of the community. This being said I think taking it away is something that is going to hurt RS but I can see why it needs to be done.

Some things that could have been done;

1. People get banned from chat regularly for reasons that are just, and sometimes unjust. Why are the people who are getting banned, getting unbanned?

2. I understand having chat at the top of RS can help people get into the conversation quickly but maybe having it hidden in a separate window would be a better option going forward.

I think chat needs an overhaul and am not 100% against it being taken away. Hopefully we can all see what a great tool it was when it's gone and if it comes back we can appreciate it a bit better and not use it maliciously.

shutting down the chat due to an instant emotional decision and pissing off a lot more members just so you know they can direct their anger back at certain people as a weapon... won't make anyone happy.

can predict what's gonna happen. you're either gonna keep it shutdown and ppl will get whiny and start more theads that have a million pages. or it will be reinstated later, with a revised set of rules.

or you can just move it to nswf and everyone will be happy, except those who want it at the very top for the sake of it being at the very top.

IIRC I got 6 points for QUOTING a racist post against East Indians/Vasakhi. Not only was what I said not racist, it wasn't off topic either.


An unnamed mod of Asian descent insults Caucasians in a totally unrelated, unwarranted post and nothing is done. Another member raises the issue and gets flamed/failed.

This is highly unfortunate because RS Chat has been a great tool for bringing this community together. I cannot count how many times spontaneous social gatherings would occur strictly from discussion on RS Chat. Many friendships have been formed over the course of its existence. Fuck. I'd write more but its getting too emotional. I've been a member of RS Chat since the very beginning and I can easily say this was the best part about RS. It was like a car meet, every day and night. People would drop in on conversations and leave when they had to go. This is not the right way to deal with this. As someone said early, there have been many bans, whether just or unjust, but those banned for just reasons should have stayed banned. I would see repeat offenders reappearing days later, seeing as their bans have been lifted. The problem stems deeper than "RS Chat drama," the main issue is the inconsistencies found by the moderating team of RS. But of course, this will never be addressed in our lifetime on here. RIP Chat, you will be dearly missed.

If you've ever been into chat during the day, Monday-Friday, you've most likely seen me.

I'd just like to leave 1 statement in here.

Chat isn't only a way to very easily open up the community.. to make friends.. easily get meets going, but it also has benefited RS quite greatly.
Some examples could be when someone comes into there asking a question, whether it be asking about a shop, or general questions about cars, restaurants, etc.. We promote our sponsors. I can personally say naming; Speed Syndicate countless times for mechanical work. Soundsgood for audio & electronics. N-motion Auto for tinting and alarms.. and just helping out members who otherwise would clog up threads with useless posts, and taking up bandwidth.

There are always going to be assholes, people that spam, or flame. It's a car forum and everybodies opinions are different thus it can get very heated. It will not ever stop because RS is such a huge place with tens of thousands of members.

I just hope the admins can talk amongest themselves and just take it into consideration.

RS Chat has been a highlight of RS for me, and I will definitely be sad to see it gone.
