Not used to this game. I was a decent Dota (wc3) player, but I'm doing pretty bad here. Also find some annoying glitches: Item icon gets stuck to cursor, and a bunch of item icons start filling my screen when I try to click them in shop. Have to close the entire game to get rid of it.

Also occasionally my Life/Mana bars disappear on the bottom of the screen, so I don't know how much mana I have left... problem goes away ONLY after dying...

I think Dota 2 does not have as much player population as other ones like LoL or HoN. I know LoL has a lot of tournments, and it appears that Dota 2 has more tournament activities and live events than HoN. It is far from dead, dude.

I assume you are already filtering your games by country? Even then sometimes not everybody speaks English. Just deal with it, like we did in grade school. Even when English isn't their Native tongue, most know the basic dota commands. I'd like to think people are smarter than perceived. If they don't listen they either suck or don't like you.

Yeah, I get those people, too. The only one you can count on is yourself. I try to do my own due diligence and always look at my mini map.

oh, so matchmaking will not match me up with higher level players?, I find that in HON, sometimes you will get matched with 1 or 2 who are really high and 3 mediocre or beginners,.. It balances out the team that way. But at least it is not all 5 noobies trying to figure things out on their own..... no one will voice anything then, it becomes like a RPG farming game.

carry heroes are less 1 dimensional.... for e.g troll isn't a two button right click hero anymore... they added some slows and nukes on him, tweaked his ult a bit.

colors are more vibrant

queueing system is better and more automated

punishment system is harsh. you can't trash talk the other team... if you do one player just has to report you and you're muted in game for 1 day

Never really played Dota that intensively :lol. Just went pubstomping most of the times to try to find a better build or better suited hero for myself. The last few heros I remember using were Night stalker, Lycanthrope, Undying, and Pandaren. Always wanted to try out Doom and Pit lord, so might give them a try when I start Dota 2.

Interesting... just found out this morning on r/dota2 that the first puck coil TP cancel, it wasn't a 3 TP cancel, only 1 tp. Shoutcasters called it wrong

even in 4 protect 1 strategies you usually have a semi-carry + your hard carry

iirc mm tries to enforce a 50% win rate so its likely that you get matched with losing players when you constantly win

Any1 plays with bots recently? They changed the AI and it's actually a lot of fun playing with them now.

I don't notice any difference with BOT AI. They still go batshiz insane anytime you enter their radius, and they will tower dive you if they have more than 2 of them. They are incredibly predictable and easy to abuse xD

on the other hand, playing with people vs bots gives you BP and Item drops now... its quite relaxing not worrying about losing etc, and still level up/get items. I do this whenever my usual teammates are not online ;p

Just play compendium matches when next ti is around. Everyone has the bonus points, was able to get levels very quickly. Level 24 with 300 games.

But levels are useless. Anyone over level 8 is eligible for arcana drops and that's all. The higher the level doesn't improve your chances. But you are still guaranteed a random item after each level

New patch is so weird... So many changes that don't seem necessary and some even OP...

Some very weird ones: Pudge and VS can use blink dagger now. Linken's Sphere buff can be transferred to ally (kinda OP?...), Slark's ult can no longer be countered by truesight... and some other stuff.

Offlane creeps meet closer to your tower
Ranged heroes now receive same amount of denied experience as melee heroes (instead of less)
Experience AOE is now 1300 instead of 1200
Non-ancient neutrals now split experience with all heroes in the AOE instead of just the team that killed it
Medium pullable neutral camp has been swapped with the small camp
Pull timing duration has been reduced
Jungling has been nerfed (experience gain has been lowered on almost all creeps)
Day and night time is only 4 minutes rather than 6
Roshan now respawns randomly between 8 to 11 minutes
When aegis expires unused, it heals the hero fully over five seconds
Random gold bonus has been reduced by 50
Gold for ending a spree has now changed from 75 to 600 and 125 to 1000
Gold income is now 1 per 0.6 seconds instead of 0.8 seconds
Tower last hit bonus has increased from 100-200 to 150-250
Melee barracks now regen at 5hp/s and ranged barracks no longer regen
Ranged barracks now have 1200 instead of 1500 HP and armor has been doubled to 10
Evasion stacks diminishingly
Can no longer orb-walk with ethereal blade (fucking Huskar)
Wards give 50 gold on destruction


Those are the bigger gameplay mechanics that have been changed.

Bloodseeker on the other hand has had his movement cap removed. Yes, he can now move at like 1000ms. That and thirst is now map-wide with vision cap at 50% across all levels and stacks infinitely. He will be a popular pub pick choice.

The new four minute cycle of day and night can swing both ways for Nightstalker. He's definitely more useful consistently for ganks, and Nightmare now reduces enemy vision by 25%.

Slark's shadow dance can now no longer been seen even with truesight.

Pudge/VS can use blink dagger.

Invoker now regains 50% of the mana dealt with EMP and has 2 spell invokes at Level 1 instead of 2.

Lich sacrifice cooldown has been increased, but now grants experience in an AOE. Also, it no longer denies experience for your enemy.

Item-wise, linken sphere can be transferred, tangos are no longer shareable, shadow blade cooldown increased to 28 from 18, and tranquil boots have been reworked and can no longer be disassembled.

Bloodseeker still isnt any better. The vision is so limited you're susceptible to gangbang. Move speed is nice but he can already chase pretty good. He needs burst damage.

I played the new alch and hes fucking banana. Automatic heart of tarasque everytime he ult. He's impossible to killed if not bursted down super fast. He can also solo rosh early now.

Tranquil is garbage. 13 seconds broken everytime you attacked or be attacked. That's a long ass time, even for supports.
