So apparently Lamborghini is making another special edition celebrating the company's 50th anniversary.

I personally think it looks extreme for sure, but umm... 3 examples?! really? Because obviously, they thought that Reventon had too many examples..

Hey, Lamborghini execs... why the long face? Is it because your double-top-secret Veneno hypercar has leaked ahead of its Geneva Motor Show debut?

This unidentified magazine scan has dribbled its way onto the internet, and the single image shows a radically designed coupe – even by Lamborghini standards – powered by the 6.5-liter V12 from the Aventador tuned to produce 740 horsepower, routed through the company's seven-speed single-clutch gearbox. The bodywork features exposed carbon fiber canards, asymmetric wheel wells, a massive rear wing, and all manner of vents and scoops, all combining for an outlandishly brutal look.

What does "Veneno" mean, exactly? It translates to "poison" in Spanish, but if the company's history is anything to go by, it must also be the name of a noteworthy bull in the history of tauromachia. What the car means to Lamborghini, however, is a celebration of the one-time tractor manufacturer's 50th anniversary.

According to the scan, the 220-mph Veneno will be limited to just three examples – all already spoken for – and command a princely 3.1 million pounds sterling (around $4.6 million dollars). Each will be painted in a white, red or green color scheme – not coincidentally the colors found on the Italian flag.

We'll be on the show floor this week to find out whether this scan and the information therein represents Lamborghini's real-deal Geneva premiere or a bit of well-meaning fiction, so stay tuned.

Honestly I think it would look just awful beside an aventador, gallardo, murcielago, diablo, countach, or a fucking tassimo coffee maker for that matter, but with projects like this you can put 700 hp in a toaster, put a big wing on it and make it exclusive and people will buy it just to prove their wealth.

Lamborghini knows how to make money.

They made 20 Reventons and sold them for $2M each, even though they were really just a rebodied Murciélago. This is more of the same, and I'm sure with sufficient demand, they will build a few more.

I always wonder how they come up with the pricing. Why $3.1MM and not say, $4MM? Or 2.5? It's probably unlikely that these special cars are even profitable when they use so many one-off body pieces, etc. that all need to be produced, it just seems like such an arbitrary number.

Aren't Aventadors still hand assembled? I think they can at least break even given most of the drivechain and chassis is reused. They are selling it for 8 times the price of the Aventador.

Then why is the Pagani Zonda Tricolore and Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita not priced at $4+ million?

both have a production of just 3 and they cost 2 and 1 million less (respectively).

IMHO, the Lambo is way too aggressive... in a bad way.

The sides look great.

The front is something akin to.... an ugly batmobile.

i could have done without the dropping headlamps and the vertical piece of the spoiler but it's nice to see some form coming back to the styling of Lamborghini as opposed to just function. The 90's where all about perfect aerodynamics and form, but imo those cars were mostly round style lacking forms. the 80's wher bad ass and it's nice to see some more extreme forms coming out like this lambo, the LFA and a car that i'd love to see in production, the HSV (which i'm hoping will be the body base for honda's new NSX).
