2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith is everything you need, everything you don't [w/videos] (http://www.autoblog.com/2013/03/06/2014-rolls-royce-wraith-video-geneva-2013/)

Wraith. And the world stood still. - YouTube

But the Wraith will no doubt be a special, exclusive, impressive machine for anyone who plunks down that sort of cash. For starters, it's powered by a V12 that puts out an impressive 624 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque mated to an eight-speed ZF "Satellite Aided" transmission. This nifty cog-swapper actually works with GPS to not only pre-select the right gear for the portion of road you're on, but for the next portion of you'll be driving on, as well. That, friends, is cool.

You know, I actually envisioned that one day transmissions will be GPS aided, no lie. I always thought that would be the coolest thing to have as a feature, I guess Rolls Royce will be the first to do it.

If you're half-decent and making enough to buy that car you should already have the girl before it. Married or not.

A gps controlled transmission? That is really neat, but honestly, why in a rolls royce? I'd expect such a thing in a big rig or a 5 ton, which honestly would be a far better idea for such an invention. Would it ever be possible to eliminate the manual transmission from trucking?

A GPS controlled transmission would be of less benefit to large trucks than a RR, because gear selection relies on more variables; load weight, load balance, engine brake, exhaust brake. Tractors and large trucks are available with automatic transmissions, and have been for quite some time. It would definitely be possible to eliminate the manual transmission for trucks altogether, if the desire existed.

Imagine how smooth the shifts would be if it not only shifted at certain revs but ALSO took into account upcoming inclines and declines

^ I wonder what it's going to be like if the GPS reads your RR in the Fraser river when you are driving on river road. lol

Well...it weighs 2.3 tons, which is about the same as a full size SUV.

That's got to be one of the coolest names for a car ever

...though years later they'll run out of cool sounding ghost names and come out with the RR Casper

The fastest gps systems do not update anywhere near as close as the human brain does. A gps aided tranny is just a stupid gimmick. Cool drool worthy car tho
