Brakemotive Rotors and Pads (http://www.ebay.com/itm/FRONT-REAR-KIT-4-PERFORMANCE-DRILLED-SLOTTED-BRAKE-ROTORS-AND-8-CERAMIC-PADS-/390411249823)

Anyone on revscene have any experience with them? My oem brakes are screechy and annoying but acura said my pads are fine and my rotors have been machined when I purchased the car 10k ago. I found these on acurazine for cheap, but it seems a little too good to be true.

drilled rotors are good for only one set of pads as they wear out unevenly.

I have them on my tsx, my dads mdx, friends s2000, and friends mr2. For the money you can't go wrong. My tsx has been using the pads and rotors for about 50k and the rotors are showing signs that it's time to be replaced.

Use blanks rotors unless you plan on tracking the car.

bumping up an old thread.

my mom's 2010 mdx has warped its oem rotors for the second time and i'm tired of it, as those of you who drive honda products know their oem rotors are crap. the dealer says the rotors can no longer be machined and wants ~$800 for oem pads/rotors/fluid/labor. i asked a private shop and their quote was only $100 less with brembo blanks and akebono pads. i think the shop labor time for both is about 2 hours.

i tried to go on the brakemotive site but it's not in service (it's been under construction for awhile now). so i looked on ebay and this is what i found for brakemotive.... $230cad for front and rear pads/rotors before shipping:

Front & Rear DRILLED SLOTTED BRAKE ROTORS AND 8 CERAMIC PADS Acura MDX ZDX Pilot | eBay (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Front-Rear-DRILLED-SLOTTED-BRAKE-ROTORS-AND-8-CERAMIC-PADS-Acura-MDX-ZDX-Pilot/401058967769?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1% 26asc%3D41376%26meid%3D5f96049602804383b2c07442c76 3ae25%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D401 058967769)

how are your brakemotive parts holding up? would you still recommend? do you get any noise from the pads because of the slots in the rotors? i'm reluctant to use drilled rotors because of cracking but there are not many aftermarket solid disc choices for my application.

my sister's car was screeching like the brakes were on their death bed which was strange since I changed the brakes on them about a year ago (approx 7k km since then?). I bought new rotors and pads ready to change them out last month, but when i removed the old stuff, the pads were still super thicc. I used a wire brush and brake cleaner to clean the pads and rotor and just re-installed the old stuff. noise went away.

I have a 2009 MDX... i recently had all 4 pads/ rotors replaced on top of a B service maintenance for under 800 at my local dealer. They said it is cheaper to do it together with a B service because they remove the brake components off anyway and i will just be paying parts from there.

Edit - it is the first time changing brakes for me since i've owned it.

@OP just to see if the brakes and rotors just need to be cleaned like in my situation explained above,
spray some brake cleaner on the brakes and rotors and drive for a bit to see if the noise goes away.

I got a 2010 MDX and my brake rotors where warped too.
I only changed the front brake rotors and pads.

I switched to Centric Parts 120.40071 Premium Brake Rotor with E-Coating
and Akebono ACT1280 ProACT Ultra-Premium Ceramic Brake Pad Set
purchased from Amazon.com

It resolved the warping and after 2 years, still straight. The pads are much better than OEM pads with much better bite. It was cheaper just to buy new rotors than to machine it down. It's a simple DIY if you can do it.

FYI the Centric "high carbon" rotors are basically Stoptech blanks as they own Stoptech.

Pretty good price on them too

Just get them those Centric blanks at RockAuto; they are around $50 a piece, for my Lancer anyway. It's so much cheaper to replace them than to machine rotors.

+1 RockAuto. Bought rotors+pads for our 05 Odyssey from them, then last week ordered rotors and ss lines for my MS3. The prices on rockauto in CAD was cheaper than any vendor online's USD price. Ship to Blaine/PR and save a lot even if you get dinged at the border

Sometimes Amazon.ca prices are pretty close to Amazon.com prices once converted to CDN. I've bought a set of Centric blank rotors for my CRV and their high carbon rotors for my speed3. No problems.

for my civic
CUSTOMS was 35 CDN

they advertise no additional custom fees.. but i got hit. Not worth it for me.

I've used brakemotive pads and rotors on various vehicles. They work great and are made by Powerstop.

Vulgate

Yes, those are the front ones that I purchased. The Rear rotors part # is correct. But I will disclaim that you should always validate yourself.

I just checked RockAuto and the price is significantly cheaper at $69CDN front and $48CDN rear + shipping and handling or shipped to Washington.

If you are doing the rotors, I would suggest doing the pads at the same time especially if they are warped.

Changing my front rotors resolved the pulsing brake issue for me. Maybe you have to do all 4, I do not know.

Lastly and it is obvious to many, but rotor price is per rotor, so you need 2 fronts and 2 rears.

small update.

so i went ahead and ordered from ebay for the brakemotive stuff for front/rear everything:

https://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=401058967769&alt=web&globalID=EBAY-US&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F0% 2Fenull.m43.l3160%2F7%3Feuid%3Dnull%26bu%3D4319139 3745%26cp%3D1%26sojTags%3Dbu%3Dbu

it's been a few weeks (because canada of course. meh), and finally something arrived... but it was only half the shipment that came in :(

so far i have 2 rear rotors, 1 set of rear brake pads (L/R)... and TWO sets of front brake pads?!?

https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-0/p261x260/20638392_10155547968998134_1401572498337657050_n.j pg?oh=90ee61a974297419f6c89055a25c60ad&oe=59F2AA10

what little packaging there was and the instructions sheet do not say brakemotive anywhere but are labeled powerstop as others have already mentioned:

https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/20507502_10155547968993134_8543919511504845532_o.j pg?oh=bdde6474ad6e76990175140a22c542e2&oe=59ED8AA7

so... gotta wait for the front rotors to show up. hopefully.
