Shits and bitches are dropped every now and then but fuck is still dropped from audio. Better than travel channel that bleeps everything.

Watched the second half of the first episode.

It was better than average and captivating.

I think that the exotic/never-before-seen locations is a big draw.

And, the emphasis on food and a little history on the country is a plus.

I will be watching this coming Sunday again.

Episode 2 is KoreaTown in LA, angle he's taking based from the previews is the re-building of KoreaTown after the 1992 LA riots. Preview also has him trying "halo-halo" from Jolibee haha.

hasn't he done korea town in his other shows?
as for this episode i find it in bad taste to be doing a show about food in burma given the ethnic violence going on there, might give it a watch later on... does anyone know if he touches on that issue?

another cnn series that im looking forward to is George Strombo's he got picked up by CNN to do 10 or so episodes interviewing people

Bad taste or not, I think the show is trying to be at least a little provocative.

Yes, he does mention a little about it, but never specifically saying "ethnic cleansing".

Good show but it should not be on CNN because it is not news. CNN is slowly turning into MTV soon there will be no actual news on the channel at all just a bunch of scrraming pundits.

Agreed.

But... it's on Sunday.

CNN has to have SOME shows that is not straight news, or it will be super boring.

It's a ratings game after all.

Last nights one of Columbia was veru interesting and no question the one on Canada is going to be great next week.

Pretty late on the episodes, but I thought the Columbia one was kind of boring. The guests he had on were very quiet. Not sure if it was the language barrier or what, but it felt really awkward to watch them have a conversation. Not to mention the lack of food porn.

That being said, can't wait to watch the remaining episodes. Canada and Morroco.

Just a heads up, the preview originally called it a Canada episode, when it's really only about Quebec.

Marshall Placid

It was just about Quebec.

The Colombia one was better.

I still need to catch up on Morocco.

The Canada one was best in terms of Food Porn. I understand why he didn't present Vancouver or Toronto, and only Quebec. If you think about it, Vancouver and Toronto is just a melting pot of great international cuisines - much like every other major north american city. Quebec, on the other hand, truly has a cuisine that's unique in its own right and cannot easily be found in any other major cities. Definitely a new found respect for Quebec food for me, and nothing more.

Don't get all flattered. I couldn't remember the last time he didn't like a place.

The only time MAYBE was in Indonesia where he tried "Dol-Dol", a caramelly sweet toffee like candy.

I've tried it in Indonesia and I think it's pretty good. Still, even on camera he dissed it politely.

I don't remember which episode it was, but it was one of the African ones from No Reservations, the tribe cooked him a meal of an animal they just caught, probably pig but I'm not 100% sure but they barely cleaned it and pretty much plain grilled it and after eating a few bites he made a face and said it tasted really bad and taste like shit lol and couldnt eat it anymore

Kind of semi relevant: Are food trucks still illegal in Montreal?

No, they started last year. To be honest, they're nowhere close to what Vancouver has. Some of them are just trucks from a restaurant around town, instead of actual new establishments.

It's in the beginning stages, so I'll cut them some slack, but it really was a letdown last summer. The only good thing that was out was a truck serving duck confit poutine and pulled pork sandwiches. We'll see how it plays out this year.

I will say this though, portions here in Montreal are pretty awesome. Everyone loves to eat and knows how to love food...also, Joe Beef is one of the best places I've ever eaten. Shame about the politics in this place...

I loved the cinematography of this show and the insight of his old shows, but Tony's getting complacent in his old age. It's getting a bit too self-indulgent for my tastes, but I'll keep watching for now.

Seems like half of each show (and 80% of the US based ones) is devoted to him boozing it up with a bunch of people we never heard of which he tells us we should idolize.
