NHL all-star hockey '95 was even better for the Genesis. Goalies can't stop a pass so you just pass forward and it'll go in 100%. I remember setting up a 60 minute game and scoring 100 goals. The game crashes after 99 because the scoreboard can't handle 3 digits.

Yup it's offline mode. Another EA failure. EA is nothing but fails. Trying to cater to the casual players as usual.

I was at EA in Jan. I gave them a list of things wrong with NHL 13. They need to fix the stuff below before putting stupid gimmicks in.

The way the goalie reacts to weak shots and lets off huge rebounds but grabs hard shots no problem
Face off spamming
Being able to pick your position right when you enter the otp/drop in rooms
Idle kicks for trolls in the match up screen and once the game starts
Human goalies quitting on purpose
Suction effect of the AI d men that's blatant holding/interference
Puck reception along the boards and behind the net
Stricter position grades
Maintaining your card/Losing your card

I downloaded it for Xbox. The gameplay is the almost the EXACT same thing as '13. Every glitch goal that worked in '13 works in '14. Even the leg kick wrap isn't patched, scored it 5 times in that single period they let you play.. Now they opened up short-side even more too. People that knew how to snipe it in '13 are gonna score like no tomorrow in '14.

It's essentially $59.99 for a patch of '13 with 2 new hitting animations. Oh well.. there's always hope for '15 lol

I didn't test out the fighting too much. But I think if you hit someone after the whistle it's an automatic fight. Or if you shoot the puck at a player or net after the whistler it's an automatic fight too.

how's it going bros? Miss playing with the RS the team but from what I've been reading, NHL 14 is another title to avoid. Agree with Dave, NHL should take a year off and fix their game instead of releasing it every year. Its also better for the cover player. Just look at Giroux :p

The same bugs are there (weak backhanders from the blueline getting past unscreened "NHL" goaltenders, suction effect of boardplay, suction effect of net battles, etc.), the same "techniques" will bring success, and playing anything remotely resembling real hockey will result in disappointment.

On top of that, they've added one-touch dekes at the expense of cancelling passes, modified the puck chop in a way that makes it awkward to use, and introduced the "enforcer" engine that, even tuned down, will still get you taken off the ice for 5+ minutes without your consent.

I thought day 1 NHL 13 was the best. So much scoring variety just like they advertised.

But then came the tuners and now it's like the old NHL games where all the goals are exactly the same.



I assume they didnt put much effort into this title since Mose of their focus is NHL 15 for the next gen consoles.

I play a bunch of OTP games yesterday, random drop ins and club games and I noticed a large amounts of bugs that should have been fixed since most of them are simple yet would negatively impact the user experience. They finally got rid of online passes so that's a good thing for resell value

OTP finally fixed the 2 dressing room drop in shenanigans but finally putting positions in the first room which is good, bad part of that is since its new, no one knows that you can just ready up your team once you get everyone even though there are people still in the middle (ie. guys who won't play goalie and waiting to see if a spot opens).

EASHL looks to finally have copied FIFA in how they structure their league, using seasons and divisions with relegation and promotion through games won or lost. It's a good step towards giving something new to something that they haven't really touched in forever.

They got rid of the +1 boosts now (like anyone used them after unlocking the bigger ones) and went with +3,+5,+7 so instead of having a limit of +9 to an attribute, its now +15.

Wraparounds are a problem at the moment but the next tuner should fix that (hopefully) so watch out for cheesers spamming wraparounds and show them a Bertuzzi on Jackman behind the net.

Hitting and Fighting are the 2 big additions to this year's game. Both are better than the previous year overall but it takes some time to get used to them, I personally like them but big hits does trigger fights a lot or at least with the drop in people I played with

Seems like you accumulate EA pucks now in almost all game modes and can redeem them for use on HUT

Haven't tried GM Connected but they better fix the lag when going through just the front end stuff (gameplay was never laggy but in certain leagues you barely get gameplay and all front end only) Servers better not be farther away from North America like they did several years ago and dumped their servers somewhere in Central Europe cause it was cheaper

Overall, I'd say its a buy for people who are pretty hardcore about the NHL game (my definition of hardcore is someone who plays it a LOT, like getting their legend 3 in OTP within a week or 2, spending tons of money on HUT and so and so) anything less and you can probably get away with playing NHL13

Worst bugs I've seen so far is having a goal waved off, then called a good goal and no goal was awarded, all the stats said it was a goal, even end of game replay had it filed under goals ... stupid refs :P

I think it's easy to complain and be critical, but I think the changes make NHL 14 quite a bit better than 13.

HUT is much improved and I think the addition of seasons is pretty cool. Getting pucks for everything you do is also a nice addition and gives you more incentive to play HUT.

The shorter seasons in EASHL are sweet too, I hated having to wait until the end of the month for the playoffs. Like said above, I really like how they structured the new seasons and it feels a lot more in depth than before. Haven't dabbled in GM Connected yet but hopefully it's a bit quicker and smoother.

Skating / hitting / fighting all feel so much better and are a lot of fun. I was playing EASHL last night, got rocked and then my buddy came flying in to defend me. When I got up, I squared off with the other player and we were within each others screens having some good tilts. When it comes down to it, I'm just playing to have fun y'know.

I actually like the hitting, the replays are pretty solid, especially when standing someone up on the blue line.

The fighting is much more fun too.

Same thing happened to me the other day. Just a normal 4v4 drop in, down 4-0 in the first 5 mins, everyone on my team left but I stayed. Then magically cpu's become more smarter and I end up winning 5-4 lol. EA always surprises me :fullofwin:
