: Fd3s Fire/ Icbc Claim

Hey guys new to this forum sorta seeking out some advice or if someone else as dealt with similar issues..
Anyway I bought an 93 Fd about 2 months ago. Drove it most of the time until about three weeks ago it caught on fire. The whole engine bay is basically gone, but the interior and back end seem to be in good shape. Although my car was valued at $9800, Icbc denied my claim last week saying I provided a false statement and I now basically get nothing but the car back. Has anyone has this happen before or have any suggestions on what to do? or if the car is even worth anything now..
Thanks In Advance!

First thing, find a lawyer. Don't elaborate on a public forum unless you have the facts to back you up.

fuel leak?

fuel leak getting onto the down pipe = fire.

Posted via RS Mobilewas that a JDM FD?

Most JDM cars that are imported to Canada are ones that failed Shaken(Japanese Government Inspection).

Iirc the Fds were really bad for splitting fuel lines and having them leak onto the exhaust manifold. So if the OP was running stock lines, my guess is that tofu would be correct in his guess. This is why I like the FBs :D lol

Interested to hear what ICBC is saying OP gave a false statement of though...

This is why I have a fire extinguisher in my FD... Reminded me to test it before summer gets here.
But what was the "false statement" ICBC is referring to?

Unless this guy comes back to follow up, i'm assuming it was a self torch job and ICBC called him on it.:suspicious:

...and now he's here asking, "how can I convince them otherwise?"

Send them a link to this thread! That should help... or maybe I should send the link to my friend who used to work in ICBC's fraud dept. and now is an adjuster. I'm sure he still has friends there, and really... how many FD's have caught on fire in the last little while? Easy to find who the OP is.

OP dumped a Canister of Gas in his engine Bay & Lite it up.....ICBC came to inspect it and was wondering why the fuck is their a fire in the engine bay if the steel braided fuel line is still held together with some smoke damage only?.

ICBC should hire RS.
