scratched my friends car in the parking lot and scraped off some paint (about quarter inch wide and 2 inch long)
her cars white and mines black so there just a smudge on her rear bumper now. what's the cheapest way to get it fixed? cuz Honda is probably just gonna say she needs to get the whole part replaced. any other way to fix the black mark ?

Honda won't replace the entire part but bringing it to them is silly. Scratch sounds too big to repair with touch-up paint. Try a body shop as they can give you a free estimate.

Edit: you said cheapest: http://www.zazzle.ca/bandaid+bumperstickers

yeah she's going to get a quote right now. what process is it called though, like what is the body shop going to do?

spot painting, then if you want it to look as original as possible, blending.

If the black mark isn't deep (and just paint from your car), you can try to polish it out first. Might just do the trick. Get some rubbing comopound and polish and give it a try. You'll be surprised how much can be polished out.

If it's small, you can try one of the guys that work out of their vans:
e.g. https://www.facebook.com/ABS.mobile.refinishing

The price is going to be a lot less than a bodyshop.

Paint is definitely gone, it won't buff out or something like that.

The shitty 10' fix is factory OEM touchup paint. ($12)

The proper fix is take the bumper off, repaint it, put it back on. ($400)

And this is why your bumper starts peeling a year after you buy the vehicle new.
Complete shit work :heckno:

Paint is gone. Either bring to bodyshop for a refinish or $10 touch up paint.

It shouldn't be too bad since the car is still new.. It depends on the other party's deductible though.. it might just be less hassle to go through insurance and OP pays the insurance instead.

touch up paint works wonders if you know how to do it. had lots of dings on my old car (95 civic with harvard blue pearl)

pro tip: don't blob. if you have a gf , ask her to paint her nails and you watch how she does it. do the same on the car.

Make sure you sand it down, spray paint is probably better.

Is the black your paint, or is it from under her paint? If it's yours, buff it out, if her paint was removed then you should be able to get it repainted fairly cheaply. Or possibly call wreckers and see if they have one in white for cheaper?
