Will be rocking at dark navy suit with white dress shirt that has big checkered pattern (not really noticable).

Not sure if I should go for solid navy tie or pattern, or no tie? :accepted:

Never worn a tie before..

Oh, and this will be for a wedding occasion.

Don't go navy...go something brighter for summer
"Mint green" is in this year...
I always like to do a darker red tie..not solid though, some pattern is nice.
If ur suit is less formal, like a linen or cotton, u can prob get away w/ no tie, but depends on what the invitation states.

Typical asian wedding at a chinese restaurant.. that's bout it. Going with odd colours with navy suit feels weird, it hasn't grown into my taste yet. =\

Go with what you will feel comfortable with.
If you like what you are wearing, you will wear it w/ more confidence.

I would avoid navy tie though.
Navy suit, navy tie and white shirt...u'll look like a waiter

Wear the tie... for weddings, to show respect or to... give more "face" to the guests.

Slightly noticeable pattern on the white dress shirt should go with an aggressive contrasting SOLID colour.

With a dark navy suit, go with a dark tie (but not the same dark navy colour... and also NOT a totally different colour... go with a darker colour or a slightly lighter colour for the tie).

Found a tie I like, now i'm overthinking the width of my tie. 3" too w.e?

Like I said, it'll take some time for me to get the sense of style. :okay:

Can you post a pic of your shirt and jacket? Width is easily determined from those things on you. The golden rule about patterns is that you typically only want one, so you either have a patterned shirt and a plain tie or the opposite. If your shirt is textured but doesn't have a coloured pattern, you can probably consider it "plain" and go with a tie with some pattern.

I'm a big fan of a tie with some reds in it for a dark blue suit with a white shirt. Maybe not this specific pattern, but this general colour combination:

Here's a pic I tried on my suit after it got altered, but decided to go with this tie instead for contrast.

The tie in the picture is 3"

I would probably do a larger double windsor knot on your tie as your collar has a very wide spread design and the smaller knots look awkward with so much space around them.

If your suit looks blue in most lights I think that tie will look pretty sharp. If it is one of those dark blues that is so close to black that it appears black, it may look odd to have a tie with some blues in it imo. Hard to judge from photos.

Looking great!

And yes, good call on NOT buttoning the last button on your suit.

Never do that.
