So the show is now officially confirmed and picked up by ABC. Should be quite interesting. Looking forward to it!

Yeah, I don't have high hopes for it but I'm willing to stick with it for the first four or five episodes. First episode was alright, though I didn't like the fact that they kinda just glossed over
Phil not really dying. Or whatever it was that happened to him.

Yeah, the flying car was a bit much... other than that, I liked it. Didn't LOVE it... but liked it. Thinking I need to go back and re-watch Avengers too, there were definitely a lot of references back to the movie (I'd completely forgotten about Extremis).

And come on... Cobie Smulders in a skin-tight pleather body suit?? :megusta:

I"m probably not their target audience as I'm not at all familiar with comic books or the stories behind them, but I caught the pilot last night and thought it was just absolutely horrible. Personally I wasn't a fan of the acting nor writing, I was half expecting laugh tracks, with ridiculous corny lines trying too hard to be funny every 2-3 minutes. Seemed like this show is more about the lab nerds investigating a freak of the week superhero than about the superheros.

For a chick who lives in a van she's done up pretty nicely.

Also the flying car at the end is in reference to Howard stark's hover car in Captain America: The First Avenger.

Some other references off the top of my head:
Journey into mystery
Spider-Man uncle Ben reference
Origin story
Project Pegasus

And all the ones that references previous movies.

It was an okay pilot. A little too goody goody for a secret government agency.

I'll stick around just because it's part of the MCU. Only way I would stop is if it became REALLY bad.

I don't like the science geeks. They don't seem to fit in.

It's basically every new network series made in the 2000's. Corny jokes, young, pretty actresses and young handsome actors, neat and tidy brand name clothes, cool hip music, clean, sharp video processing, funky special effects, slow motion sad montage... It's all there, and it's all shit.

Yeah, Skye (actress Chloe Benet) is hot! Other than the Agent Hill and Skye, the storyline for the pilot episode was nothing to rave about.

-wonder if Nick Fury is gonna show up in the mobile office plane for a future episode, to shake things up.

It's a Whedon brothers and crew show.
Not counting Firefly, their stuff doesn't pick up all that quickly.
I think you should give it 6ish episodes.

I'm pretty sure Joss is playing to the tune of Disney/Marvel execs for the first season regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Avengers references. I think they want to reassure the non-Whedon fans that this is grounded in the MCU and is worth watching.

Those that are Whedon fans know we're not in for cookie-cutter villain-of-the-week police-procedural show.

DanHibiki

Good enough. I always look forward to whatever marvel references they throw in (except for the avengers stuff as well, like the other poster said, overkill).

I do wish it wasn't so rated PG. They didn't show any of the soldiers get shot. Instead they just say "we lost a lot of men" later on. Laaaaame. I wish it was at least rated the same as the marvel movies.

The cameo after the credits in season 2 was money tho lol.

acting is so baddddd uggggh.

arrow isn't a perfect show either but it's much better than this and despite not being part of a bigger, established DCCU, season 2 already feels like a bigger world of heroes/villains.

agents of shield needs some super heroes on the show or better agents.

it also doesn't help when those 2 nerds talk, its just pure nerd talk. and its boring. i can't even understand them. i feel like those 2 are suppose to play off each others chemistry as lab partners, but all i get is gag reflex

Agreed, it starts out slow but it has picked up so far. The breaks in-between by ABC did not help (olympics holidays etc), but binge watching it should be a better experience. Just don't expect something amazing like True Detective, Breaking Bad, Game Of Thrones.

The last 4-5 eps were good mainly because it focused on the bigger plot and have higher stakes.

It also leads directly into captain America 2 coming out this Friday and then that spills over into the remaining episodes.

It mainly involves shield and how they are in that uber grey area when it comes to good or bad.

Be sure to watch cap 2 before next weeks episode.

That exchange with Coulson before escorting the HYDRA prisoners makes me think he's playing double agent to get inside HYDRA.
It could be possible Ward used icers on Hand, but this is proven false because in the previous episodes icers turned a blue splatter not a red.
The red blood in the close up shot of Hand's hand haha disproves that icers were used. As well as the two extra bullets Ward put in her.

Ah, BUT...

... the first shot could have been a real bullet, followed by icers? But then I guess that would have been noticeable on Hand.

Still, Hand even offering to let Ward shoot Garrett rather than hold him for questioning is sketchy... how the fuck do you find out how deep his infiltration goes if he's dead??

For that matter... we've already seen one "wrong" Clairvoyant capped... who's to say Garrett is the real one and not just another decoy?

Just got caught up (only got into it after exams were finished) and I have to say... the beginning was kinda slow. It reminded me of "Smallville" where literally every episode was 95% "there's someone with powers that has to get capped" and 5% "actual plot moving forward".

That being said, about halfway through things started to get really interesting, esp. how the plot ties into the movies as well. Can't wait to see this week's episode!

And I won't lie, the one thing that kept me going was the hotness of all the female characters (in their own ways). Adding Cobie Smulders to the mix will just make this show more epic.

I read 2 theories about the city...

One is a Kree city since the blood comes from a dead alien. The second is Attilan Attilan - Marvel Universe Wiki: The definitive online source for Marvel super hero bios. (http://marvel.com/universe/Attilan) which would tie into the Inhumans movie and the rumor that Skye is an Inhuman. This makes more sense as this is on Earth and probably has something to do with Skye and her dad

Awesome winter finale episode last night:

Colson kills Whitehall. Skye meets her father. Skye follows Raina to a underground area of the lost city. Raina puts the obelisk on to a stone base to open up these blue crystals. One of the black agents is there to witness the blue crystal. The crystal turns Skye, Raina and the black dude (not Mack, this is the smaller black guy) into stone. Skye and possibly Raina break out of this stone covering to be transformed into human form again, possibly with new powers. The black guy remains a stone figure. You see a mysterious man with no eyes making a phone call to mention to someone that he detects other people (Skye, Raina) unleashing the power of the obelisk. This mystery man has a second obelisk!

However, he substitutes her DNA samples with her old samples so that Simmons doesn't suspect changes in Skye. Rana is taken away from a faceless guy as she is about be to captured by SHIELD operative officers. Rana's suicide attempt becomes a second chance at life. Why are Bobbi and Mack looking for Coulson's toolbox? Do they work for Hydra? Is Nick Fury giving them orders to watch Skye? Are they working for Tony Stark because Stark wants Coulson's toolbox?Perhaps this part of the story set it up perfectly for Age of Ultron, Civil War?

The truth is revealed, in more ways than one, in tonight's episode:

Lady Sif loses her memory temporarily when a Kree warrior touches her with a truncheon in Portugal during a fight. SHIELD's agents go to Portugal to investigate. Mack, Hunter, and Simmons do an investigation of the beach area where Lady Sif and the Kree were fighting. Coulson and Agent May help Lady Sif regain her memory of the details of why she is on Earth to fight the Kree. It turns out that the Kree saw an activation of one of the Diviners. The SHIELD team capture the Kree after he fights Bobbi and Skye. Skye's telekinetic powers are getting stronger, especially during the fight scene with the Kree warrior. The Kree's truncheon touches Lady Sif so that she regains her entire memory. The Kree warrior explains to Coulson, May, and Sif that he is on Earth to destroy the diviner. He goes on to explain during Earth's ancient times that the Diviners caused terragenesis among humans. These humans are considered dangerous by the Kree and Asgardians because of their strong powers, and their abominable appearances. Simmons reports to Coulson that the crate that the Kree was carrying is empty. All the Diviners are missing. Coulson said that the things are safe because the detonation of bombs in the lost city should have buried all the Diviners. When Skye is questioned during this discusson with Kree, Coulson, May, and Lady Sif about the whereabouts of Raina, or what she saw about during the terragenesis in the lost city, Skye gets very nervous. When Skye loses control of her nerves, her telekinetic powers begin to emerge. Windows break. Things start shaking. Skye confesses to Coulson, Mae, Lady Sif, and the Kree that she is the cause of the damage around them. She panics by saying that she cannot stop the powers. Coulson and May do everything they can to protect Skye from the Kree. When the Kree gets into a second fight with Bobbi, Fitz gets a powerful gun to immobilize the Kree so that Bobbi can use the truncheon to wipe out the Kree's memory. Meanwhile, the underlying story behind Bobbi, Hunter, and Mack is interesting. Hunter decides to take a full time job with SHIELD. Hunter and Bobbi get intimate in bed. Bobbi and Mack have a heated conversation where Mack convinces Bobbi to ward Hunter's romantic advances away so that he doesn't blow their plan. Mack says that when they "pull the trigger, he doesn't want to see Hunter kill her (Bobbi). Bobbi tells Hunter while she is doing tests on the truncheon that they need to slow down the pace of their relationship. May is able to help Skye control her emotions momentarily so that her powers do not harm anyone. Skye is placed in an isolation room on the plane. Once Coulson convinces Lady Sif that Skye is safe to Earth by staying with SHIELD, Lady Sif take the Kree back to his own planet. Lady Sif does warn Coulson that Asgardian sciences leads here to believe that there are forces in the universe that nobody can control or change. Coulson replies whether she is talking about "fate". Is it fate that a map of the lost city was placed into Coulson's DNA? Is it fate that Skye has these powers? Coulson's memorable line "Where Skye goes, death follows." The second last scene has Fitz defending his actions to his team of not telling them about his knowledge of Skye's terragenesis transformation. Simmons tells Fitz that because Skye is their friend, they would help protect, not lock her up as a threat. Mack voices his concern that the SHIELD team really needs protection from Skye. Skye hears Mack's comments and walks away angry. Skye goes back into an isolation room on the plane. The last scene shows Hunter confronting Mack to demand the truth behind his secret plot with Bobbi. Hunter tells him that "Coulson would be very interested to know about a flash drive." Hunter demands Mack to tell him what is the "backup". Mack denies anything about a secret plan with Bobbi. Mack takes matters into his hands by putting Hunter into a headlock. Hunter goes unconscious.

Little bit of both, I assume. I'm sure there are quite a few people out there with latent Inhuman powers, I think the whole "fish oil" thing was a way to explain the soon-to-be sudden onrush of people emerging with superpowers that Coulson's team will have to deal with in the next season.

Also, what the fuck was that Cree rock thing that turned to liquid and absorbed Simmons? Considering it only seems to go liquid when in the presence of Inhumans....

Ward kills his lover, Agent 33, when she morphs into May's likeness during a battle with SHIELD. Agent Bobbi takes a bullet to save Reed from the gun booby trap that award sets up for SHIELD. Coulson loses a hand. Actually every Marvel property this phase loses a hand. Thor, The African guy in Avengers, Bucky in Captain America, Killian in Iron Man 3, Xena in the first episode of AOS, I forgot who lost theirs in Guardians.

"It's a trap" lol

The Jiyang speech sounded like something from Star Wars. We will rule the universe together or something.

Oh and Simmons CARBONITE!

Few episodes back Sam's bedsheets were Star Wars lol

There was a tab on the blue folder that said:

Caterpillar which is: http://marvel.wikia.com/Caterpillars_%28Earth-616%29

Skye is the leader :) Creel's son is also on the team.

need to know the what the monolith has to do with the inhumans?

got this from a site

The Monolith was one of many products produced by the Kree during the creation of the Inhumans on prehistoric Earth. The ruling Kree hierarchy, deeming the creation of the Inhumans by a rogue Kree faction as being a mistake, conceived the Monolith as a means of wiping them out. Aside from destroying the Inhumans, the Monolith also had the ability to absorb and then transport individuals across space

Pretty rare to find someone who likes the show more than the movies?

What is it about the movies that you don't like? And is it all the movies or just some?

I don't like most of the comic book movies... They are sort of in between too goofy and too serious.. Like they take themselves too serious considering how silly they are. The pure silly ones are good though - I really enjoyed Guardians and Ant Man was OK too. Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, those movies I didn't like.

I'm just tired of these big blockbuster action movies where everything just floats around the screen like nothing is real, and there's no sense of danger or threat to the main characters. They just go through the plot and at the end you just wasted 2 hours.

TV shows can get away with this silliness because they're just 40 minutes of dumb action and drama. I'm fine with that

I really liked Daredevil until the last episode where it crossed the realm into dumb superhero action. I really hope season 2 isn't like that episode.

GHOST RIDER! PogChamp

Wasn't expecting to see him in the show so that was a really cool surprise. Ghost Rider was one of my favourites growing up but man the movies were bad.
