Hey there,

The fan in my oldschool HP laptop has been going wild over the past year and I'm pretty sure it's due to a dust build-up in/on the fan, can somebody please recommend a place that can clean my laptop for me? Preferably in Richmond. I've thought about cleaning it myself but also don't want to risk destroying my laptop. Thanks in advance!

Get a can of air and just spray through the vents?

+1 get a pack of can air from costco and spray at it. if you have an air compressor then you can use that and save yourself from getting can air.

If you want a full cleaning then you will have to take apart the laptop.

If you use a propellant cleaner like Dust Off, remember to use short bursts (don't hold the trigger). This will extend the life of the cleaner and also reduce the risk of damaging the fan's bearings.

Vacuum it out instead of blowing it back in.

If dusting off fails look for degraded heat sink compound, R&R.

I would say, using the air can on 1 side of the laptop and vacuum on the other side.. that way, it flows better and dust doesnt go flying all over the place...
