For dock fishing, I caught two, one at Ambleside and one at Jericho. I do see dogfishes caught more often at Jericho though.

I use shrimp

dogfish eats almost anything, try fish at horseshoe bay...

i use sardine to catch soles or cod but a lot of times dogfish takes the bait...

its annoying as fuck to catch dogfish tho...

You can catch a dogfish with practically anything. They're also very prone to hit metal spoons because of the electrical charge they give off... they attract the sharks.

i generally use small squids as they stay on the hook well and dont get nipped off very easy.

works well for flounder/sole as well as rock cod and ling cod.

i don't know what everyone's giving the OP all the fuss about,

OP there are actually 14 different species of sharks that inhabit the waters off british columbia, including great white sharks.

most species will hit just about anything, something slow moving and bloody is usually the key. if you're specifically trying for dog fish off ambleside any of the bait we suggested will work.

I suggest slitting your wrist to give them the scent then just putting your arm in there and when you feel a bite, yank it out as hard as you can! ;)
