Not sure if I should turn this into a DCU thread or solely a Batman/Superman thread yet but...

HYPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

On the heels of the worldwide success of “Man of Steel,” director Zack Snyderis bringing together the two greatest Super Heroes of all time—Batman and Superman—for the first time on the big screen. The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution,Warner Bros. Pictures.

nyder is co-writing the story with David S. Goyer, who will then pen the screenplay. Production is expected to begin in 2014, with an anticipated release date inSummer 2015.

The new film brings back Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder as producers. This time, Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are serving as executive producers, along with Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan.

Thomas offered, “Whilst our ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy is complete, we have every confidence that Zack’s fresh interpretation will take the character in a new and exciting direction. His vision for Superman opened the door to a whole new universe and we can’t wait to see what Zack does with these characters.”

As for JL they've been talking about that for ages as well but have kept pushing it back

Hopefully we'll see them

I dunno without Christopher Nolan, Batman might suck again

Because both the latest Superman movies kind of sucked. The last one sold a lot of tickets though so that's the direction that'll stay I guess. The thing about the Nolan movies is that they did well AND they were good. We need more movies like that.

No I don't think so either... Whedon would be perfect, as has been proven.. but obviously that can't happen.

JJ Abrams would be a better choice than what Snyder has shown too.. but again he'll be busy for a long time with Star Wars

I get what they're going for by going with Snyder, I just don't really like it. His movies are all style, no substance. Abrams and Whedon can do the style, but their movies still have interesting characters.

Actually I think David Fincher would make an amazing super hero movie :ahwow:

I still think McG would be a good choice I don't get the hate I thought Terminator Salvation was good :)

agreed even though im not a fan of flares ;)

Abrams can do the style,

Unfortunately, David S. Goyer and Henry Cavill didn't let slip any huge details about the recently announced Batman/Superman movie, but did reveal that they have yet to decide on a title for the Man of Steel sequel. "We don't know what we're going to call it yet — 'Superman vs. Batman,' 'Batman vs. Superman,' — but those two guys on screen, that's happening." World's Finest seems to be a popular choice among many fans, but that may not be the best title to help sell this movie to regular moviegoers. What would you guys like them to choose? When Goyer was asked whether or not he was surprised about the backlash surrounding Superman breaking General Zod's neck at the end of Man of Steel, he replied: "To a certain extent, Superman, cinematically, hadn't been reinvented since the Donner films. We will be dealing it with the coming film. He's not fully formed in [Man of Steel]. He will have to deal with the repercussions in the next film.

Sometimes it's the less obvious choices that do the best job.. I mean this whole modern superhero movie revolution was started by Spiderman, directed by Sam Raimi who up until that point did mostly horror movies

If anyone is a fan of Arrow, the Green Arrow tv show, Barry Allen aka The Flash will be in season 2 and then followed by his own spin off tv show.

I'm excited and scared at the same time. Arrow is doing just fine on its own. It's also a direct copy of the nolanverse batman where everything is grounded. He's been trapped on an island for 5 years. Comes back. Pretends he's still a billionaire playoff but secretly a dark tormented vigilante. They've redone all the villains to make them grounded and without powers.

But then bam! We're hit with this flash news and now the fans are all skeptical.

Ya because the movie script will be based mostly on the dark knight returns where Bruce is almost 60. Also they think having an older batman makes more sense to counter the younger inexperienced Clark.

I disagree with this though. I don't see any problems with having a younger Bruce and still out smarting Clark. Again, if you want this to be long term you'll need younger actors.

Brolin would be an awesome old Batman.

I'm not feeling Ryan Gosling though. Thinking of him as Batman reminds me of Brosnan playing Bond. I'm sure he could play the character and a bunch of people would enjoy it but it's not believable for me. He doesn't have that bad motherfucker look, I dunno it's hard to explain.

I'm sorry everyone for what I'm about to say but this is no joke....

Ending weeks of speculation, Ben Affleck has been set to star as Batman, a.k.a. Bruce Wayne. Affleck and filmmaker Zack Snyder will create an entirely new incarnation of the character in Snyder’s as-yet-untitled project—bringing Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen and continuing the director’s vision of their universe, which he established in “Man of Steel.” The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures. The film is slated to open on July 17, 2015.

n the announcement, Silverman stated, “We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.” Snyder also expressed his excitement about the casting of Affleck, noting, “Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”
