Lisa Robin Kelly -- who played Eric Forman's older sister on "That '70s Show" -- has died ... TMZ has learned.

The 43-year-old actress passed away in her sleep Wednesday night at a rehab facility in California.

We spoke with Kelly's agent who tells us the actress had just voluntarily checked herself in for treatment for an alcohol problem this past week ... and was determined to clean herself up.

The agent tells us, "She had been fighting demons for a while and finally lost her battle."

Sources tell us Lisa had been in and out of rehab centers hoping to kick her alcohol problem ... and most recently fell off the wagon after a huge dispute with her estranged husband Robert Gilliam.

Sources say ... Kelly's estranged husband beat her last May to obtain residual money from her show. He was convicted of domestic battery last month and sentenced to 3 years probation. He also served 35 days in jail for the beating.

Lisa filed for divorce from Gilliam back in July.

We're told Lisa's new boyfriend brought her to rehab again on Monday ... but she went into cardiac arrest late Wednesday night and could not be saved.

The boyfriend blames her estranged husband for the relapse.

Sources connected with the attempted rescue tell TMZ ... when emergency responders arrived at the rehab facility, they found needle marks on both of Lisa's arms.

However, her BF tells us the reason for the needle marks is that he took Lisa to a hospital on Sunday -- because she had a .34 blood alcohol level ... and nurses made multiple attempts to insert a needle into her vein to extract blood.

After several attempts, medical personnel were able to use a vein on the top of Lisa's wrist. Kelly had been troubled for the past couple of years -- she was arrested at least 4 times in the past 3 years for DUI, spousal abuse and assault.

It sucks another person has succumbed to addition :( RIP

my mom had told me this earlier today.

if she was admitted in on a Monday, how did she go into cardiac arrest on Wednesday night?
(may be a stupid question...but doesn't alcohol poisoning only last a day or 2 at most? or was it just damage that was already done inside that finally kicked the bucket?)

Danny Masterson is 37, Ashton Kutcher & Topher Grace are 35.. other main characters weren't much younger. Heard on Team1040 the youngest, Mila Kunis, turned 30 yesterday...

That's 70 show started in 1998.
So Mila Kunis was 15 when she started.
Lisa Robin Kelly was 28 when she started.

If there was another show like That 70's show aired today, it would be called That 90's show. Think about that.

That is a huge asshole comment about her being just another junkie. I want to ban you just for that comment

I said its sad to see someone succumb to their addiction. Yes it's I'm the news because she's famous but that doesn't make it any more sad than those on the dtes. Hopefully though with her and Cory monteith this will bring more awareness and possible resources to help those avoid and overcome addition

Meh, I kinda have to agree with Dino. I know people who have or had addictions and the shit they did to get their next fix was pretty brutal. I have no love for people who end up addicted to drugs, whether it was intentional or not. Two of my friends battled cocaine addictions and while they managed to clean themselves up, I wouldn't have felt much in the way of remorse if they had ended up dying as a result. I'd have felt bad for their families and friends, sure, but not them. They did it to themselves, after all. Even if it was an attempt to "escape" something, there are a million other better ways of doing that without even touching drugs or alcohol.

As for some random celebrity, whether they're A-List or not, I could care less. It shouldn't have to come to some famous person dying of a specific disease or addiction for people to realize that there's a problem.

You have obviously missed my point. Why dedicate a thread, a page in a gossip magazine, a headline on a website, and a "breaking news" story on tv for some person who died from drugs and/or alcohol. It happens every day. It is happening now. Why sensationalize it? These people have more money than most and can afford the best therapy and rehabs. The double standard is pathetic.

If I had asked you 3 days ago what the real name of Eric Foreman's sister was, you would have no clue.

There are dozens of asshole comments here everyday.

If you think my opinion is worth a ban, ban me then....stop threatening it.

Holy smokes, calm down woman.

I think everyone regardless of status deserve to be remembered when they pass away. Unfortunately for people in DTES and anybody for that matter, is not known by the general public. If they have a recognition in your community, I'm sure they'll be on the community newpaper.

TO YOU, she may just be another junkie, supporting actress, extra, etc. But there are people might have loved her for her role in TV shows and whatever she appears on.

I think you're having a bad day.
