Never heard of him but if his business and livelihood is creating music with software it's pretty fucked up he's not paying for it. I guess he shouldn't mind if other artists steal his shit and don't credit him.

There is actually a whole community surrounding "borrowed" music production software and tools as well, not gonna linky it though.

I don't think its as huge of a deal as people are making it. Just because EDM is on a global "mainstream" scale (for) now is the only reason people are noticing these things now.
