Cheap + suit should never be in the same sentence.

Moores has some close to that price range

250 you may want to consider just getting a sport coat/blazer
maybe even look for used suits (there's no shame in that)

I was going to suggest Home | Suitsupply Online Store (http://suitsupply.com) but i think their cheapest suit is still in the $400 range

silly me forgot about sears, sears has some suits on sale that could fit your budget

Stockhomme store in Metro, Richmond center..etc.

Their stuff may look nice, but material quality isn't. You get what you paid for.

make it yourself with some cloth from some old bed sheets, most frugal approach possible

Asia.

I know a lot of friends who have had nice suits custom tailored in Asia for cheap. HK or Philippines.

+1 for suit supply. Got a suit for a wedding there. Really good value and it's half canvassed.

reviving an old thread but could anyone recommend a place that alters suits? I'm mainly looking to get the shoulders done

I know many places that sell suits have in house tailoring services.

If you are close to downtown, go see Albert.

Albert's Tailor - Downtown Vancouver BC (http://www.albertstailor.com)

He has retarded hours but does great work at a decent price.
