Has anyone gone to one of these? I would have thought to seen some talk about this seeing as it is this weekend.

if you have no idea, check it out, looks like there will be some high end machinery but if it is lame sauce then then might pass.

I just don't like how those people lineup bunch of super expensive bone stock cars.

They need to customize them and show some enthusiasm.

Would really like to go this event, but $50 is too rich for my blood. Will wait for that Marcel Lech / Dylan King update instead !!

Use the discount code FrancesHui in order to get a 25% discount off the ticket price when you buy tickets to the show online.

Or JETSETCREW for 50% off the VIP tickets (from $100 to $50).

Looks like a lot of high end cars + a few events within the show.

See you guys there!

A few ballers from Dubai & Abu Dhabi have been staying in LA since June so there's been a Huayra parked in front of the BH Four Seasons for the entire summer.

$37.50 for regular (after promo)
or
$50 for VIP (after promo)

You have to decide if the complimentary drinks and food are worth the extra $12.50.

I think the drink is free-flowing, not limited to one or two, though I cannot vouch for this fact.

Maybe... cruising to Van Dusen, 11AM to 1PM Friday to get ready for tomorrow's show.

Would have been cool to actually witness a long line of supercars cruise slowly to the gardens; alas, work trumped that on a Friday.

I think the hypercars go earlier at 11-1 for the media preview/coverage.

Went to the show today and had an awesome time. I was a bit skeptical because it was the Luxary car show with a dress code but I ended up having a blast. I recommend all the people on the fence should go check it out. I used the promo code and got VIP tickets. Free beer, pizza, and sliders. Got to see the ZR auto booth in the VIP area. Just had a good time all in all.

Will be going next year as well.

I'm with Timpo.

Fuck....who would of thought you could say that and mean it :)

Not so much on the modding of supercars, but spending $50 to walk around and look at a bunch of shit that I can't afford to buy...I don't think so.

The Langley Cruise-In was on Saturday, where its a much more mellow experience, the entire city gets involved in putting on a good show and two important points:

1. It was FREE
2. It's a bunch of guys, much like us showing off cars that they built themselves on a realistic budget.

I'll be honest, I'm not into supercars...never have been. On the walls of my bedroom were posters of 32 hiboys and fat bodied fords, not lambo's. And I'm certainly not ragging on people that are into these cars, but spending $50 seems pretentious to look at pretentious.

Ronin
09-08-2013, 01:49 PM
I'll say this about the event: it's marketed towards a rather affluent audience so $50-100 is the price range they're going for and two, there are some cars here that you'd be hard pressed to see in person otherwise. I think I've seen a Veyron one other time and Aventadors don't grow on trees...although there certainly were quite a few of them Saturday.

Sure, your cruise is free but I can look at Honda Civics anytime whether they have 18 turbos or not. I'm probably never going to sit in another Pagani.

twitchyzero
09-08-2013, 01:56 PM
$50 includes food & drinks
it might be pretentious for those with minimal knowledge of cars and are just there because lambos look nice

i think the admission price (like $35?) is worth it just to be in the presence of the MC12 and Pagani...that said the italian car show during father's day is a nice alternative

From what I remember the Pagani is a factory car and is going on tour, it's headed to Toronto after today. The Pfaff Auto Group based in Toronto (Who also owns McLaren Vancouver) is the only dealer group in Canada authorized to sell the Huayra, and hopefully someone in Vancouver picks one up!

As promised here is Part 1 of my visit to the show. It was a good show overall but I agree with some of you and I think that $50 is a bit steep. $20 at most is what the regular price ticket should be.

As for the star attraction (Pagani Huayra), this is the 3rd different Pagani that I've seen in my life with my own eyes and the details are amazing but it doesn't have the same presence as the Zonda did. In a field of supercars, the Huayra just looks bland.

Funny, I thought the exact opposite. I've absolutely despised the looks of that car from the first time I saw it, and time has only made it worse. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though.

Funny, I thought the exact opposite. I've absolutely despised the looks of that car from the first time I saw it, and time has only made it worse. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though.
That carrera GT is a little more my flavour.

You're among the majority. Let's not forget, the SLR was a spectacular failure. Mercedes-McLaren ceased production early and had trouble unloading the units they'd already produced.

Confirmed about Pfaff.

Wilson Ng (formerly sales manager of Audi of Richmond when I first met him) from Pfaff did an interview on the Pagani in the show in the media preview.

The only issue I have with the SLR is that it's unproportionally long.
Maybe if it had a smaller engine, it would have looked nicer.
The vents on the fender didn't make it look appealing either.

The styling of it otherwise is pretty good.

Well theres not enough car modding companies to cater to every rich person with awful taste fast enough, so I guess technically, yes we do. Don't forget though, they will pick out a set of wheels for you and charge you double what you could have ordered them for as well.

Yes, the blue RS2 Avant looked HOT!

The 2 911's had the "997 ###" plates.

Saw a black/dark gray (I think) from 20 spots away 3 series BMW come out of that 4th spot, head first... and I was like WOOHOO while praying it was not a reserved spot, since it was so close to the entrance).

And, near that RS2 Avant was icing on the cake.

When something looks awful and you call it awful, its not "hating." Awful just an adjective. I'm not jealous nor do I hate the 458 in town with beautiful HRE wheels, but I do hate the ones that look like homer simpson shot them with a make up gun full of vinyl graphics. It has nothing to do with money and everything to do with looking like shit.

Is it like a charity thing, or does the money go to the organizers?

Goes to the organizers.

Over "3,000" attended last year in 2012:
Luxury Supercar Weekend Archives - Income Property, Real Estate Investment in Canada (http://www.viproperties.com/tag/luxury-supercar-weekend)

They did a charity drive for people who wanted to donate, but the tickets go directly to the organizers.

Interesting to see how well this year's show did.

Rough Estimates ONLY below:
----------------
Lets just say 5,000 came this time, up from 3,000 last year.

5,000 x $50 per ticket (not counting VIP and promo codes):
=
$250,000 from ticket sales

Sponsors?
There were around 52+ sponsors.
Not sure how much it cost to sponsor...
Lets just say $3,000 per sponsor on average.
$156,000 from sponsors

$406,000 total in revenue streams
----------------
1-Cost for catering and alcohol for VIP section:
Probably $35,000 to $50,000.
2-Event Staff of 30 paid + volunteers
$600 for 2 days x 30 = $18,000
3-Van Dusen Garden Rent for 2 days for the Garden
$12,000 per day at least x 2 = $24,000
4-Signs, tents, lighting equipment, technical/engineering crew
$25,000

Total cost: $117,000
-----------------

$406,000 - $117,000 = $289,000 profit.

This varies depending on how much the sponsors paid, and this is dependent on what tier the sponsors are (the largest to the smallest).

What do you guys think?

Thanks for clarifying. I'd have no problem spending 50 bucks for a charity car show, but its kind of an insulting ticket price if its just making someone wealthy. I know money makes the world go round and all, but its just really steep for somewhere I may spend maximum an hour, and see (other than the obvious 2 examples) as nice of cars at any of the other shows/meets in vancouver, or on a weekly basis around burrard.

money was made

but money was spent. i hate to see the number for the insurance. for the our inexpensive meet, to cover property damage, all the attendies, a 3mil liability policy was needed.

for this event, i could imagine that number easily being 100 times that.

either way, you cant knock down the show. it is catered to a different crowd. the $$$ made from attendies is minimal to the revenue made from sponsors. you want to be associated with high end elite, then you will need to pay to advertise, and be a part of the event. if i had a modded super car, or ran a shop that catered to super cars, id probably would be in the show too, these are the clientele you would want.

loved the idea of the trophy's w/ a bottle.

lets be realistic if you really thought this show was for charity, it was a "fund" raiser.

they're not high class enough to throw a party/show in the name of charity like elsewhere (where the majority or all of entrance fees goes to pay for organizing the event anyway ;))

the fee isn't high anyway imo and it keeps the event from being packed to death with people to the point it becomes uncomfortable to attend, i wouldn't mind if they tacked on another $50-$100 (general/vip) and gave a portion to charity and thereby also keeping attendance a little lower

its like the Pebble Beach show tickets are much much higher, granted there are way more :sweetjesus: cars and charities and scholarship programmes play a big part
http://www.pebblebeachconcours.net/

Or the most awesome event in Lake Como Italy they have "public attendance days" where entry is free for people but the other days cost ($15 realistic price and you know the show is for the love of cars) they should consider something like that here actually; the real fees are tacked onto those who wish to enter the show with their cars and join in some special events for participants

I don't begrudge anyone for banking a profit off this thing. As long as any connection with charity isn't implied, then you are good to go. People should feel free to put a product out there, and if people buy it, you are good.

At most, let's call them normal car shows, its the participants that pay to attend, and the public attends for free.

A few things about car shows. This was my father's thing with his car, so I've been to my fair share. No one respects your car and its a free for all for anyone in the park. On the flip side, you meet a diverse group of people, if by diverse, you mean middle aged over weight white guys.

A show like this, I would assume that the cars participate for free to be able to have as many cars as possible....and a wide variety.

As i said, I've been to a shit load of shows, both on west coast and east coast, and I've been to a few of the fairly large shows in the states. There was one outside Boston that I think was the best organized show hat had been put on. They had burnouts in the middle of town...show sponsored at that, where you have track only drag cars being directed down main street by the police to participate in the burnouts.

We have a LONG way to go to get to a truly spectacular car show in the Vancouver area.

Being quite a car fanatic, I was excited to attend this year's how, as I had never heard of such an event. My favorite section was the small one displaying a few cars from some sort of supercar club composed of mostly rich Manland Chinese drivers, who stood around being loud and douchey as they admired their own cars.

I suppose the $50 entrance fee was worth a first-time admission. It was kinda like Vegas for me - worth a one-time visit, but no more.

The $50 was worth it, with the promo price ($37.50).

On another note:
I can attest to what you said about the small display where there were 3 or 4 supercars with a group of 5 or 6 teenagers (really, teenagers) standing around talking and making loud noises.

Now, I won't comment on their ethnicity.

I will comment on their cars.

Their cars were stock.

If they were modified in ANY way, they were not noticeable.

Compared to other modified supercars in the vicinity, their cars were plain Jane boring.

Maybe that was why nobody bothered looking?

Anyway, this was at the farthest corner of the show.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, walked to their cars to look or admire the cars.

Until.... they started revving one of their cars and it was very, very loud.

Everybody then proceeded to move towards the noise, while I proceeded to move away, because it was very loud.

I think this was what ScratchedMy99 is talking about.

To say the least, it was... awkward and weird even going close to that small display.

I believe there was at least one modification on the cars: the Lamborghini in that display had some custom artwork done to its front lip spoiler. I believe it was the names of the owner and his girlfriend/wife. The artwork itself was well done, but as an overall package only the wordy gaudy comes to mind.

Yup, we met at the Spring Meet.

The club was offered a spot at the upcoming show, BUT it's in "pending status" due to the lack of Audi volunteers (cars and drivers).

Lexus and BMW had good representation last year, so...

Anyway, fingers crossed.

Sorry I only remember Troy, and that's only cause he added me to Facebook and I've seen him once since lol
If you see me this weekend come say hi again

^^ me neither but until my current change of events, if I could get a ticket I was planning to still go. I'm not going to let being alone ruin my chance and checking out a lot of beauties and multiple cargasms :p

ohhhhh god I just touched the P1. :sweetjesus: I couldn't believe I was all alone with it for almost 15 minutes. Most of these media people don't know what it is.

The Huayra makes a better sound though.

Editing the title to keep all LSW stuff in one thread.

Or should we start a new thread for '14? I don't think that's necessary.

Well, if you're driving a 900+HP 250MPH hypercar, you're not going to subtlety...

...

...I was considering bronze wheels for my car...

I think the 3 pc design on the wheels ruin it. Exposed rivets on a car like the P1 really :seriously:"

My thoughts as well.

Still, the P1 looks amazing in the photo (sans wheels), and I'm sure it will look even better face to face (ATB anyone?).

Will be out there for Sunday! Flying solo so hopefully meet some new faces while I'm down there. Also put some faces to usernames. I'll be sporting some bright pink shorts to go with that chicken nugget brown tan that i've been trying to achieve this summer.

will be snapping some photos so feel free to come up and say hi!

I think a new thread is alright. We have new threads for content from all RS events along with other related get togethers. Keeping it separated by years is some what organized I guess. You're choice though. I'll post my photos and videos in the corresponding thread after the event. This weekend is going to wear me out for sure.

Agreed. To each their own but I look at those wheels and I think, thats basically a car wearing ed hardy. Also bright look at me wheels are kind of yesterdays trend aren't they?

i actually dont mind the P1's rims as much as most did in the spotted thread, however yea the rivets look like shit..

i have a big hate on for rivets with my dads 993 3 peice twist rims, some people love em, some hate em, i cant stand the look.

Absolutely! Everyone has their own tastes. I personally don't like the colour but it's not my car and maybe the owner loves it. :)
