In addition to this date, it’s also expected that the Nexus 5 will bring the availability of Android OS 4.4 KitKat to the masses. Little is known about the specific features Google will rollout, but the upgrade is rumoured to bring the following:

- New notification widgets
- Firmware availability to older phones
- Fragmentation changes (screen resizing)
- Miracast updates
- New Gallery Visualisation

After reading the connectivity specs on the N5, it seems to be the only upgrade will be the LTE bands. Maybe 1080p screen. I doubt the CPU will be upgraded or could be considered an upgrade.

To be honest, LTE right now feels like a marketing ploy. It sucks battery, and what will you really use the speed for on a phone? On top of that, in Canada we have exceptionally high data prices.

LTE is definitely noticeable even when browsing pages. I used to think the same about not caring about speed but after using it for awhile the experience is just so much better. Battery life? My Note 2 nets around 25hours per charge and I'm on LTE.

As for it syncing with your facebook contacts, that's all on you. You could avoid uncheck/unselect the sync.

Samsung Nexus build quality wasn't great, I agree. But the LG Nexus 4? Double sided glass with that rubber grip in the middle that doesn't chip apart in your pocket like an iphone? :sweetjesus: and the buttons don't jiggle around like the iphone either

Google doesn't support facebook contact sync, they removed it in android 2.3? Non nexus phones support it because the manufacturer implements it. Best you can do on a nexus device is use haxsync or a 3rd party facebook client.

The Z1 just came out in early September. It will be a while for the next generation.

The Nexus 5 is speculated to have a downgraded 8MP camera, although it will include optical image stabilization. For $400, the total package is good enough for me. A $400 price difference between phones is a huge deal, and the specs on the Nexus 5 are damn good compared to top model phones. only deal breakers would be if I can't use it on LTE in Korea and Japan, or availability is nil and release date is pushed far out.

Its not a matter of MPx either btw for whether there's a hump on the camera what matters most is the size of the sensor

the LG G2's sensor is only 1/3" aka TINY (same as htc one, iphone5s, note3 smaller than iphone5)

No, the resoultion itself doesn't cause the hump.

But with the sensors LG use, the 13MP one is about 1 or 2mm bigger than the 8MP and thus requires a hump. That is why the N4 used the 8MP - it doesn't have a hump, while the 13MP LG Optimus G does.

I don't know if LG makes an 8MP sensor with OSI but I doubt the Nexus 5 will have an 8MP sensor if there's a hump.

I don't think the Nexus 4 ever had the hardware to do LTE. If they release an LTE version I think it will actually have hardware changes to fit LTE in.

If rooted you can install a hybrid radio firmware that will work with the latest versions of Android. I tried it, but PCCW doesn't use LTE Band 4, which is the only band supported.

Korean phones do this more often it seems. All my HTC phones and iphone and WinMo phones going back 10 years have had it on the top. It's not as big a deal as the headphone port, but I don't like it. It is too easy to hit the volume button on the other side when trying to press the power button.

Prices are pretty set in stone. N4 only dropped in price when Google was trying to clear stock for the N5. Some companies sell them on contract, if you're interested, but that almost defeats the purpose of the phone being off contract at $350
