So I'm going to an autocross event at the end of the month and I'm looking to get feedbacks on each tires whether which one are better for autocross. My car is an 09 civic lx.

Haven't driven v12, but I've driven enough cars with eagle rsa - they're crap IMO.

V12 are pretty decent wet if you've got tread, but such weird tires to compare.
All season vs. Summer tire?

^ +1 for that. You should consider some max performance summer tires such as the Continental DW, or the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Great traction and performance in both dry and wet conditions.

+1 for star specs!!!

Took 1st place in Novice with VCMC in 2012 with these tires in the Corolla. Really sticky tires, last a good amount, has little road noise.

Those Eagle RSA's suck. They came stock with my car. For the average Joe, those tires are probably good enough for them. Those tires were designed for max comfort and less noise. For me, I drive my car hard at times. Around corners, the tires feel very mushy and doesn't give you the hard bite as compared to a high performance summer tire (eg. Michelin Pilot Sport). When it rains, the tires have very little traction when I give the accelerator anywhere near 50% throttle. Whereas my previous ride had the Pilot Sports and it was a very sticky tire even in the rain.

V12's are not autox tires, they are absolute garbage and should not be labelled as Max performance. BTW, I have V12's on my M3 and the grip is horrid.

V12s are good street tires, ok grip and last forever, hankook rs3 is more like performance tire.

Star Specs, RS-3 or Rivals

That comparsion makes no sense and neither tire is a good autox one

Neither.

BFG Rival > HankookRS3(not in the wet) > Toyo R888 > Dunlop StarSpecs ZII

michelin primacy or sport ?

Neither.

BFG Rival > HankookRS3(not in the wet) > Toyo R888 > Dunlop StarSpecs ZII

tires you listed are street tires
r888 is r-comp

r888 is probably the fastest of the tires you listed but also wears the fastest
depending on size, most likely costs the most too

but to the OP

you can go for the following tires that would do well in autox/track

1)bfg rivals (heard they are about .5 seconds faster than that of z2 star specs [info from scca])
2) bridgestone re-11a - good all around tire both in wet + dry
3) dunlop z2 starspecs - heard these were good but from what my friends have tried, its grippier in the dry than the old z1 but they prefer the z1 for the wet
4) hankook rs-3 - very good tire for the dry + hot day, but sucks in the rain

price wise (for 15", 16", 17") seems like the re-11a and z2 are cheaper than rivals by very very little, the rs3 is cheapest

but for our weather and if its your dd as well, go with the re11a or z2 starspecs

Toyo R1Rs are pretty decent in the wet.

I ran ventus rs3's on my miata and I liked them. But I have no professional opinion. I also ran rt615-k's and r888's and was satisfied with them too

Not if he wants to run in Street Tire Classes.

^^ and if he is just getting into auto cross, DON'T run on r comps it hides all your little mistakes and faults. When the car eventually does break traction, your speeds will be much higher.

So I have both of these tires. Got preety good deal for the ventus v12. After running on these set for few days, looks like ventus v12 might be better for autocross

I'm assuming you are going to Pitt Meadows? Even with really grippy street tires that pad feels like you are on ice, V12's will be even worse. Either way, have fun.

here's a different perspective:

if it's your first time doing auto-x, why not try the lower grip Eagle RSA first? once upon a time ago, I went through the VCMC Velocity driver training on my stock Jetta running OE Eagle RSA tires. I had great fun, and learned a lot on how to control my car on these tires. as it is your first time auto-crossing, you can explore the limits of car handling and tire grip at a much lower level. this will, in turn, teach you how to squeeze extra grip and speed out of what you already have.

yes, the Hankook Ventus V12 are a better gripping tire. but you probably won't take full advantage of its gripping capabilities unless you've done other types of motor sport activities, or lots of late night mountain driving.

or lots of late night mountain driving.

Not only will you NEVER get to the limits of a street tire on public roads, it is incredibly asinine to try and do so.

true, but I was giving the OP a benefit of a doubt that he had some driving skills by hooning on the streets. I totally agree, you would never be able to learn what you can at the track/autocross compared to the street.

2 things for OP to keep in mind. If this is your first autoX and if you have no other performance driving experience, bring the RSA's as you don't want to ruin your new set of tires.
You are in a fwd car, so you'll be hard on the outside edges of the tires.

Secondly, they will ask you to tone down your driving if you are making too much tire squeal.

exactly, that's what happened when I did my first autoX and it was with hankook ventus v4es.

this will be my 3rd autocross

In my opinion, don't change your tires yet. Come out, have fun, drive, get instruction, jump in instructors cars and just enjoy.

Ask lots of questions too!! It looks like I wont be able to make this event but I know there are tons of people around who can help you with anything you need!

Who the fuck puts $100 tires on a Lambo....

I've had Hankook v12s on a Mazda Miata and a Chevy Corvette. On the Miata I liked these tires, they gave up grip in a very predictable manner allowing me to drift my ass through pretty much every turn. J turns down Sunset Blvd are fun.

When I got the Corvette it had some horrible firestone tires. I replaced those with some Hankook V12s. What was fun in the Miata was annoying in the Vette. After some power upgrades these tires didn't hook at all.

I now run Nitto Invos. They're great. It's what I'd recommend doing. I have to work at it to make it kick out, unlike the hankooks ;P The Nittos seem to have very predictable behavior when you break loose, but they usually don't squeal like other tires, which can be a little weird.
