Give it up buddy.
Judging by how cheap you sound you probably have a cell phone bill less than $75/month, but ill give you the benefit:
lets say you pay $100/month, average month has 720 hours in it. Even if the network was down for "half the day as you claim" (which it wasn't), that would equate to 12 hours.
100/720=14 cents/hour * 12 hours of outage = $1.66.
You really going to waste your time for less than $2. Get a life.

It says on their website they will credit you back their post paid customer's a day's worth of service. :notbad:
When this happened when I was in LA with AT&T, they immediately asked if I wanted to cancel and pay an early cancellation fee on top of it all. :lol

My Fido didn't go down :alonehappy:
On other news..
The Canadian government's wireless policy is clear - Industry Canada (http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/icgc.nsf/eng/07389.html?Open&wtpromo=More_Choices)
Govt seems pissed at Rogers/Telus/Bell for making up shit, so they did a counter-attack add supporting "Verizon" to come to Canada. Govt seems to promote more choices, lower prices, better service and to make Telus/Bell/Rogers suffer.
 to our govt for once.

FYI
I did not ask for any compensation or filed a complaint.
I was merely stating that it was more than couple of hours.
and of course, for ppl like you who only use phone for chit chatting with your friends, half day outage is only worth $2.
I was stuck in the office for whole day, so it didn't matter to me but for ppl who work on the road.... try telling them half day without a phone is only worth $2....

Our entire headoffice is on the rogers network, and I know it caused a lot of problems when this happened, especially for all the road warriors that have access to a landline for conference calls and and such.

I use texting to chit chat with my friends, I use my work phone to conduct serious business at work.
Also if you are so compelled by how much you feel you were harmed by this feel free to take it to a lawyer and sue Rogers. Even a money grubbing parasite like a lawyer would tell you to GTFO, because even they know Rogers' track record is really good when it comes to this type of shit and no judge would even listen to your non-sense.

Then I would move to a different provider if I were you...I understand the frustrations but you aren't entitled to damages suffered as a result of not having service...
You pay for what you get and if you don't get the service, you don't pay for it. You're being compensated for the exact service you didn't receive. Not for some hypothetical situation where you couldn't call your stock broker to tell him to sell those Blackberry shares which resulted in you losing a million...
It's technology...it's going to fail inevitably at one point or another.
The question I put forth is, how many times has the Rogers/Fido network been down for you since you signed up with them?
Also, hypothetically, calculate how much you did lose that day because of the outage...how much do you think your loss actually was? (this is not meant to be argumentative)

No service provider will guarantee service. Infact, it says so right on the contract you sign.
I get that cell phones are an important part of every day life, but some people need a wake up call. I can't think of one service that never has problems. Hell, I think I even recall RS being down before.

RS has been down a handful of times and I used to hear people bitch and cry about it all the time. That's the worst...when a service like a forum, Facebook or Gmail is down and not working and people complain about it.
Um, it's a free service and you're free to come and go from the service as you please. You're not entitled to ANY reliability or guarantee of service.
