: Where is ASR? - Warranty Required on Blackvue

Apologies if this is the wrong forum but need help in locating them for warranty on my Blackvue 380g-HD camera.

I bought the camera via Revscene last year with an install by Will. Back in August I was hit and run in front of Starbucks, my cam was on parking mode and should have caught the incident but unluckily due to my cam overheating the screen was purple and the video was useless. Went through ICBC, forked out the deductible and got my car fixed. After which I remembered the camera should still be under the 1 year warranty so contacted Will. Got a hold of him right before his trip to China - was not able to meet up to pass him my cam as I was also out of town on business. After that, been trying to contact him since but no reply.

- Their website: ASR Canada - Dash Camera| Vicovation | Otosaver (http://www.artofspeedracing.ca/) has no contact information
- Follow up PMs on revscene have been left ignored although his last login was on the 11th
- Messaged ASR on Facebook a couple days ago and have not received a reply

Need to check my receipt for exact dates but I know my 1 year warranty is coming up and if I still can't get this done I'm stuck with a defective product...

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Ed

If you have instagram try and get a hold of him by commenting on one of his pictures (@artofspeedracingdotca). That's how I was able to get in contact with him cause he didn't reply my FB msg either.

One of the reasons why I chose FineVu over Blackvue is because of all the overheating issues I've heard about.

Same here, my finevu works great! Never had a problem in the heat, even when it was parked outside all day in the summer.

I've had a Blackvue 400 for quite a while now and all I can say is, IT SUCKS!!!

I can't even sell it, 'cause people know how unreliable it is. I'm sure the newer models are better, as they have worked out all the kinks, but holy crap.

As for businesses that disappear for weeks and months at a time and don't have legit addresses, I don't know.......... too late for some, I guess. I was going to buy from them because they are RS sponsors, but when I couldn't find the place, I knew right away to stay away.

I think Soundsgood carries Blackvue and Finevue. Gonna get mine from them. You know they are reliable. And they know how to install the damn things. Not sure if any of you remember, but when a dealer starts asking people how to hard wire shit, you know to stay away.

Just saiyan!!

What are the issues that you Blackvue users are experiencing which may be considered a defect/warranty item?

I've got a 380 as well... been over a year now since ASR installed it and no issues. I don't handle it daily... and will review the SD card maybe once a month to get some footage...and its hooked up to power magic.

I've had my 400-ii for about a year now, installed by ASR, and it's been fine.

Couple SD corruption issues but that's the card, not the camera.

I've sold so many and never had a comeback

Check footage from now and compare it to one of the very first you've saved.

In the heat, the Blackvue goes all fuzzy.

I've had to clean the sensor and the inside of the lens a few times. It fixes the problem.

Like I've said previously, I'm sure the issues have been addressed since the first few batches.

I currently have 3 running in 3 different cars of course. Other than having to clean the lens once every 3 months for the heat issue they work great. First one was purchased June 2012

*clean lens because the heat makes it foggy*

regardless of the qualities of the blackvue unit, the pressing issue here is the lack of customer service from this ASR fella.

whether he's busy in china or not, he needs to be appeasing customer's - do something, even if it's a "i'm in china right now, but you have my word I will provide you a replacement under warranty upon my return"

clearly this guy is a rookie businessman, and while he may be ok at installing camera units, he does not have appropriate levels of business acumen, namely customer service.

personally, i'd never deal with a company that showcases poor customer service, even if their price is lower. not worth the headaches, such as those encountered by OP.

best of luck OP - and perhaps a warning to all others dealing with ASR

How to take unit apart?

How to take unit apart?

Pull out the 4 black rubber plugs, remove screws, take apart plastic casing (be careful, just clips).

Take apart lens module from board (2 screws), clean both sides of lens with alcohol. Blow air from sensor; some people have used alcohol on the sensor as well, but i didn't.

It's pretty basic. Just don't lose anything.

It does void your warranty.

Thanks for the advice guys - I have put a message on their Facebook wall and hoping to get a reply soon. I only added them on FB a couple days ago and they accepted my friend request then (so I'm assuming they have access to Facebook)

I went with ASR as they were a vendor on the forum and there were a ton of great reviews back when there was the ASR product thread on here. I had the same great experience when he did the install, where he explained the product extensively. Therefore I am quite disappointed now that I'm looking for support - on a product they are authorized distributors and having to chase them down for months.

To be fair, I haven't had the typical hazy footage issue. Mine stems from the fact that it seems to reboot every five or so minutes, regardless of how many different types of miniSD cards I use and how often I format them.

Standard business procedure is 24 hr response, not a fix, but just a "I've received your email and will respond fully within 3 days as I am currently away on business with limited email access"

We're not being unfair here when we say he isn't showcasing good, or even adequate customer service

Wait I think you guys got this wrong - I personally have every expectation that my unit be replaced under warranty. There's no if or buts in this, I bought the product with a 1 year warranty and within that period the product has failed. The reason for this thread is to look for advice in reaching them and based on some replies, I'm not the only one thats having trouble with that. I am personally very dissapointed at their customer service and am still waiting on them to provide a reply to see how we can remedy the issue.

I bought this pretty early on when he was still one of the few if not the sole vendor on RS that had dashcams. Regardless, reviews on here were great about him and I had great confidence on all RS vendors

Sucks to hear about a site vendor flaking out and ASR seem like a decent vendor, I remember the owner always posting and helping out members. Hopefully there's a valid reason why he hasn't responded and the guys who need warranty work done get everything resolved if this vendor decides to come back.

The manufacturer, in Korea, is sketchy as well. I tried discussing with them about importing in the past since there was such interest on RS, before ASR picked them up, and I decided to stay away even made a note about it on RS iirc.

There are other vendors on RS that carry dashcams. Some of them have been around for a long time and are very reputable. Some of them are very supportive of our little community called Revscene. They are very active at RS sponsored events.

I've dealt with ASR when I got my Finevu dashcam during the summer. English is not his first language; therefore, we should give him the benefit of the doubt in that regards? We may get a different perception based on the tone conveyed in his messages, but I don't believe he has any negative intent.

However, in regards to the OP. I agree with you guys that, for him to not respond to inquires affects his accountability and business reputation.

Quick Update - followed the advice of one of the members on here and was able to reach him after posting a message on his instagram. Ive been sent instructions to pack up my dashcam and since Blackvue requires the cigar lighter cable (power) to be included in the exchange (mines hardwared in my car), I asked if I may borrow a set and he was helpful in connecting me to a friend which can lend me one.

Thanks fellow RSers, just crossing my fingers this "new"/fixed Blackvue will not act up in a year..

Hey Will ^^
my dad's ML350 camera wont turn on :(
i purchased the blackvue earlier this year

Hi, William.
4 possibilities from this case

1. fuse burnt out
2. cigar charger is broken down.
3. Power Magic Pro might need a reset. Unplug the harness and plug back in.
4. camera is something wrong.

Let's start from the easiest step.

Using any cigar charger to test if the car cigar charger socket works properly or not. If you can charge your phone through that socket, then it means the cigar socket fuse working fine. If the cigar outlet can not supply any power to charge your cellphone or other devices, then go to step 2 to see both fuses on fuse adaptors works well or not. You should not be that lucky tho.

1. If the cigar charger outlet working well, then please go to my buddy's place to get a new cigar charger for your Blackvue. I pm'd you his number already. Plugging in the new charger to the cigar socket to test the camera is doing well or not. If that works, then the old cigar charger is gone.

2. If that way does not help, please check the fuse from the fusebox which is under the rear left/right floor mat. Unplugging the fuse adaptor to see the right side fuse is broken or not. If it is, swapping in a 2-3A fuse.

3. If the fuse seems fine, then unplug the power magic pro harness and plug back in. Start the car to see if it works well. Also please read the power magic pro manual to set the timer to any time you prefer. But do that when the ignition is off.

4. If 1-3 all not working well, then follow these steps to get the manufacture warranty done.

The warranty is free within a year. Valid date start from the receipt date.

1. Please sending an email to Blackvue Sales Manager Joey Won and telling him what is the issue of your camera.
his email is Wonyi@pittasoft.com and copy one to our email s23union@hotmail.com

2. pack up everything from original box with ASR receipt with serial number(very important).

3. Drop off the parcel to TNT express depot close to YVR.

VICO wf1 use Amberella A5 chip which is same as go pro hero 2. It made by a f2.2 6 pieces glass lens. If you have a 4 core cellphone or tablet, the wifi runs like a rocket.
To be honest, the night time quality needs to improve a little bit more.
I am using vico wf1 for almost a year. It runs fine and it can turn off automatically when the operating temperature up to 70°c

ASR Canada - Dash Camera| Vicovation | Otosaver (http://artofspeedracing.ca/)

Website is essentially gone. Been on this "trip" for months.

^Two other vendors have been actively advertising the Blackvue cameras.

But you probably already knew that, and have no actual interest in getting blackvues, and are just trying to prove some twisted agenda.

Actually i've been looking on and off for over a year now, ASR quoted me a good price when i said something along the lines of "I need a dashcam... ASR Blackvue group buy :fullofwin:" and i was going to get myself one, and was going to get my parents one for Christmas... No twisted agenda here...

If that's really the case, then I apologize for my snideness. However, he has been on this trip for a while as you said, and if you really want them both speed syndicate and soundsgood offer these as well as alternatives.

You really should get some regardless of who is selling, as it's essentially essential now-a-days.

It's all good, and there honestly was no agenda or anything, I wouldn't gain anything from tarnishing Will's reputation other than not a good deal on a dash cam... Anyway, i know i need to get one. :okay:

on another note, how easy or hard would it be to disconnect a hardwired install of a 380 with the power magic? I know it involves removing some panels and stuff to get to the wiring but at the fusebox, can I simply just pull out the 'add a fuse' or whatever was used?

It depends on how and who installed it. If it was installed by a good installer it should be as easy as pulling the two piggyback fuses, re-intalling the fuses in their location, and then pulling all the wires out from wherever they were tucked to get them to the camera mounting point.

Yup should be just remove lower dash panel for fusebox, pull out the 2 add-a-fuses, put back required fuses then remove rest of wiring.

I went through the a-pillar which pops out with a flathead.

Having a little trouble with mine lately...Seems like parking mode no longer functions. I have the Blackvue 380G and the Power Magic Pro. The camera seems to turn off immediately after turning the car off. I've already set the Power Magic Pro to 11.8v. Any ideas?

I am having difficulty with the power magic pro as well..

A couple of days ago one of the fuses blew. I replaced it and now the dash camera won't turn off, even when the power magic pro switch is off and the LED is not on...the camera stays on.
The camera itself records fine, just won't turn off when the car is off.

I've tried swapping out the fuse location its plugged into on the fuse box but still the same issue. Swapped the fuses around as well.

Anyone have any ideas to its cause?
is the power magic pro broken?

The IC that senses the voltage is probably dead. The easiest is just get warranty service on it.

whats an IC?

I assume this is something internal to the power magic pro?
Also the camera stays on though, and works fine, so if there was a voltage issue, would it not turn on at all?

Its been over 1 year, so don't think it can be warrantied.

thanks

So whats the best one out there in most peoples opinions?? I have a another question also, can you can like a black strip sort of thing on your windshield to conceal your camera somewhat from the front of your vehicle? I noticed a few BMW's that have it.

I haven't got one yet but I was thinking the same thing, if I was to tint a strip at top of the windshield for a cam to be concealed how much many inches is allowed to be tinted?

Vicovation New series Dashcam: FUll HD, XFHD, Dual Full HD. All of 3 dashcams can use CPL lens and GPS. Marcus 1 and 3 will be launch at the end of Febuary 2014. I love the Marcus 3 most because of the sharp and amazing day/night footage. However, Marcus 3 do have some requirements to computer video card and monitor. If you do have a 4k2k monitor, you can try the footages on the monitor. It is so smooth.

Marcus 1 Full HD with GPS and little LCD screen without internal battery.
It is a micro size Vico-tf2/sf2

XFHD Marcus 3: 2304x 1296P resolution. I saw the sample extreme quality video footage already. The camera suppports 1296 @ 30 fps, 1080 @ 60 fps. It is just amazing feature on Vico-Marcus 3.

Marcus 5 dual FHD cams will be launch at the end of March 2014.

From the meesage, I can tell the coneection of yellow and red wire are connected properly. Also the camera is running well. Resetting the power magic pro is unplug the white cable at the back of PMP.
Please try that and see what is going on.

Seems the switch is something wrong or the connection of the switch joint is always connected.

1. Please sending a email to Blackvue Sales Manager Joey Won and telling him what is the issue of your power magic pro. He can help you out and he will quote you the charge.
his email is Wonyi@pittasoft.com

Since your power magic pro is expired on the warranty, I recommend just buy a new one from Lukas to replace the power magic pro because the shipping fee is not worth to fix the pmp.

I've tried unplugging the white wire, and the fuses, but still to no success.
I think you are correct in assuming that there is a problem with the PMP switch.

I emailed Joey won and will see what he says.

Also can you PM me a link to buy a new PMP from lukas

thanks

Here is the Lukas power magic cable which is same DC 3.5mm 12v plug. It looks smaller than power magic pro. Or you can try LukasHD.com official store for more.
