Looking for places to eat around PNE. Any suggestions?
I wasn't impressed with Bo Laksa King cause the Roti was a let down last time I went. Any place you have in mind that's decent around there?
maybe red wagon cafe?
thanks!

Try X-site, it's on the same block as Red Wagon and their food is pretty good. Plus, specials are like 5 bucks if you get a drink.

I think Petite Saigon is better than Bao Chau. Their spring-rolls and pho are better imo.
Bao Chau's rice dishes are fuckin bomb though.
X-cite up where Safeway is has cheap grub. Love their Club Sandwiches.

First time I went to bao chau, the noodles in my pho were hard as f. Second time I went, vermicelli in salad rolls were hard as f. Never again. :heckno:

Pho tam > all pho place. But it's in surrey :troll:
Pho tam is probably the best pho Surrey has to offer, but I find their broth just a little bit watered down. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Pho tam hater or anything, I eat there whenever I'm in Surrey. But, Bao Chau reigns supreme in my books.
Having said that, I would pass on Le Pho, Le Do, Pho Don and Petite Saigon anyday for some Bao Chau Pho

Not clean. We have seen cockroaches scurry around the place. But OK, their spring rolls are decent.
Le Petit Saigon is pretty good. Probably one of the cleaner Vietnamese places to go.
I also like to goto Thai Hang for Vietnamese. I have always liked how they serve broken rice.
I like to goto Jame's on Slocan and Hastings for late night Chinese. They are open until 2 am.
For cheap take out sushi, Sushi Nanaimo is good value. I get take out from there for a quick fix.

Still remember the hype built around it in this thread.

Then this review brought me back to reality about RS recommendations. :fullofwin:
Alright mudder fuggers.
You bitches that keep on saying Nanaimo Sushi is the bomb, i love it when i'm high..etc
are fucking terrible people.
I went there and the food is absolute shit. I think it's worse that sushi garden and there is no way in hell their "awesome roll" is comparable to anything at sushiholic.
They make everything with waaaaay to much SHITTY rice @ sushi nanaimo. I'm not even comparing it to a gourmet place or anything the but the ratio is off the fucking scale and it tastes like doo-doo.
Conclusion?
Don't patronize this place and let it burn and rot in hell.
Oh yeah, if you think the pictures of the sushi pizza looks good, you've been deceived. It fucking sucks.
Oh but the service is decent. Also, does anyone know what the fuck they're yelling at you? It doesn't sound like japanese and it also doesn't sound like korean....

Curry Zone is pretty good. $10 for lunch buffet, and $13 for dinner buffet. Good reviews on Yelp and Urbanspoon too.

The thing is, different strokes for different folks. I initially tried it for 2 reasons, it was a few mins from my place and it had 90% rating on Urbanspoon so I said fuck it I can only comment if I've tried for myself.
I thought it sucked pretty hard. If you're into low quality big bang for your buck sushi places such as Samurai Sushi then this is the place for you. Some people know the quality is low but still love going to these places because of the value in big portions at cheap prices. Some actually think their fish is high quality, you clearly have not eaten out enough. These are probably the same people that consider Cactus Club fine dining.
If you like actual quality sushi then don't even bother with this place period. I will gladly see this place rot in hell.
Not really racist!

^ my experience was completely horrific as well
I grabbed a couple rolls and a tempura udon..... brutal, terrible quality
Sushi Garden is way better and its not even that great

Pho Vinh and Pho Tam are 1A/1B for Surrey pho in my book, depends on which way I wanna drive when picking either :lawl:. Haven't been in a long time, but Red Wagon isn't too bad.
