: most cost effective way to get bmw warning signal scanned?

Just wondering if you know a good place to get my code scanned within the same day?

Also what is the ususal price associated with this.

Just use OBDII scanner

you can pick one up at Canadian Tire.

They can be pricey(usually $100 or more) but mine was on sale and got it for $59.99

A generic code reader will not read BMW codes! None of those Canadian Tire ones will.
Depending on what BMW you have I have a scanner.

OP never specified if it's a BMW-specific code he needs reading or just a general CEL that's been triggered. The latter can be read with a generic OBD2 reader.

There are generic codes that an OBDII scanner can identify on almost every car regardless of make or model.

But there are some BMW specific codes that takes a special scanner.

I did not think BMW charged for just reading codes, if they do shame on them...

Shame on them? It takes time, space, personnel, and liability for a shop to do that for you. Why would you expect them to do that for free?

If a generic code reader doesn't work than you'll need someone with INPA. I have the software downloaded but there's quite a bit to the program before I want I hook up to my car and start messing around.
