Looks like Honda needs to do some 'catch up' again with the civic. The 2014 Mazda3 looks great... and i'm not a big fan of the 2014 Corolla but it does look somewhat better than the outgoing model.

Civic needs to up its look and tech I think.

Just one year after major improvements established the Honda Civic as the clear compact segment leader, Honda will further its segment leadership again with new enhancements to the Civic lineup for 2014. Details and technical changes will be announced in the coming weeks, but the world will get its first look at some of the changes when the 2014 Honda Civic Coupe
makes its world debut at the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas during a press conference scheduled for Nov. 5th at 9:30 a.m. PT.

Not limited to Civic or Honda, but I found that Japanese cars tend to look worse in North America.

Whereas in overseas they tend to have different bodystyle that actually look good and stuff.

The only exception is maybe Camry but most of the time yeah...

Different crash test regulations are partly to blame for this.

My first thought was that it is similar to the Accord Coupe. Really surprised with the direction Honda is taking with it.

I was going to post this as well...

OP wasn't very specific...the sedan had already been updated a year after 9th gen debuted

the update for sedan in MY 2013 looks great...i'm glad it's coming to the coupe as well because the current one looks like complete ass as it stands..

Please please please add more power sooner rather than later Honda...

Well they definitely added power.

2013 Civic SI - 201 HP - 170 lb/ft TQ

2014 Civic SI - 205 HP - 174 lb/ft TQ

Yep they added 4 horses and 4 torques. :fullofwin:

But then by 2106 the civic will have almost 300 hp!!! (300 hp of eco green electric mr fusion power)

i don't know what the big hype is about the new mazda3 it doesn't look THAT great. I like the civic design much better.

The best mazda3 that performed amazing and looked great was this gen…

I was just playing..cause in 8 years it increased the HP amount by 8, therefore in 2106, if it followed the same rate, the 2106 civic would have almost 300hp

But because its 2106 it wont use gas anymore itll be all eco alternative fuel like

Maybe thorium powered civic :fullofwin:

170+lb/ft is finally half decent...the Honda of yesteryear was significantly less than that and didn't weigh that much lighter

The on-paper numbers went up by a hair, but the wheel size also went up from 17" to 18", meaning that they have likely gotten heavier.

For street use, I'm willing to bet that the pick up and go eagerness in the new car will deteriorate due to the heavier wheels. Adding insult to injury, those new wheels look rather ugly to me.

Unnecessarily big wheels are always a detriment in my books.

There's a reason for that.
The '06-'11 model had the K20Z3 that redlined at 8000, with 139 lb-ft of torque.
They've sinced switch to the K24Z6 with extra displacement, and 170 lb-ft of torque, but a redline at 7100.

From what I've heard, the engine is not nearly as fun, with VTEC not having much of an effect in this application.

11-06-2013, 10:29 AM
At least the dealers will be having massive price cuts on the 2013 Si's :fullofwin:

Last time I went, they were doing a $7,000 discount on the 2012 Si Sedans, so I presume they will do the same for the 2013 models.

Traum

^^ Hmm... in that case, what would happen to the 2012 Si that the dealers still have? $10k discount on those? $20k OTD for a CSi? :fullofwin:

Power isn't necessarily always the driving force (har har har) behind buying a good car. Look at the GTI - it's not particularly powerful compared to some of it's rivals, but that HP deficit is made up for by luxury and the way it handles in the corners. If Honda can make the new SI handle just as well as the EP3 SiR hatch of old, you wont care that the HP gains have been minuscule over the years.
