Like a scene out of the Fast and the Furious, Penticton RCMP are now searching for a stolen 2011 Chevrolet Corvette that was driven right through the window of a showroom late Thursday.
Just before 11:30 p.m., smashed glass was reported and a car spotted speeding away from the Huber GMC dealership in Penticton.
Officers found the glass bay door of the showroom smashed wide open and an empty spot.
Dealership staff confirmed a silver 2011 Special Heritage Edition Grand Sport Corvette was missing.
Just as RCMP officers were investigated the scene, the vehicle was spotted speeding past on Eckhardt Avenue toward Highway 97.
An officer in a marked police vehicle followed the car a short distance as it left Penticton and headed north.
Due to safety concerns, officers did not chase the car, but relayed details of its direction to Summerland RCMP.
The Corvette was spotted in the Trout Creek Summerland area, and clocked at 220 km/h.
West Kelowna Mounties were alerted and a roadblock set up near the connector. But the vehicle couldn’t be found and police believe it had turned off the highway.
Penticton RCMP continue to investigate the break-in and brazen theft and are asking anyone with information to contact them at 250-492-4300 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (http://www.theprovince.com/news/Penticton+Mounties+seek+help+tracking+down+stolen+ Corvette/9085347/story.html#).

That car will never be found. It's likely already in a shop, getting the motor pulled out to go into some drifter kid's 240SX.

car was probably trying to get into a container once the heat died down a bit
wouldn't be surprised if some rich Chinese businessman/official wants a limited edition C6 for 6 figures

onstar has the ability to remotely shut the engine down. how the car got to surrey is beyond me. soon as it was stolen, the dealer or the police should have contacted onstar and had the car disabled.

is it possible they had disabled the onstar?
