Is this normal? I drove around the block three times and the driver side has a little smoke and smell. Passesenger side is fine. I didn't have pad shims to use but I did clean the calipers as well as sliding pins.

Did you clean the new rotors before install? They are covered in oil from the manufacturer to prevent rust

just spray the rotors when they are cool to the touch with brake clean and they should be fine.

hmm yes i did but, i did not scrub it hard or anything, i just sprayed and wiped. I think i scrubbed the passenger side thats why its not smoking. The driver side when I received it seems like there was alot of oil on it. i sprayed and wiped it and didnt seem like there was anymore oil on it

okay, is that safe to do? in the case that it is not the rotor coating, it wouldn't be the caliper pins that are causing it to stick is it?

I changed the brake pads and rotors on my moms accord a couple of weeks ago and they smoked a lot the first time I drove the car and were fine after that I didn't use brake cleaner or anything.

I did brake pretty hard when I drove it so it might have just burnt off

itll burn off, u can spray brake clean or degreaser on it and raise it off with water

As long as you pulled the caliper pins, cleaned, regreased, they should be fine ... even if you didn't they're probably fine.

Avoid heavy breaking for awhile till the pads/rotors break in and you should be good. I wouldn't bother cleaning the rotor now -- it's already on and you got ceramic pads ... brake cleaner is some abrasive shit. I don't know if it'd break down brake pads but I'd leave it alone -- it'll burn off and go away on its own

yeah, i think the burning is going away, not sure yet because it was raining when i test drove. is there any place i can purchase brake pad shims? my old pads had ones that clipped into the holes but they wont attach to my new thermo quiet pads. Theres no excessive squeeling or anything as of yet, just a squeak when i slowly back out my drive way turning the wheels.

any signs that the pads are really tight against the rotor and dragging on the driver's side? does the car pull to one side under braking? does the rotor show and color change from overheating? i am wondering if there could be something more than just the sliders, such as sticking piston(s) inside the calipers...

When you bed the pads its normal for them to smoke and produce a burning smell even if youve cleaned them all up with brake clean.

some pads even have a brake in material on them. its most likely nothing to worry about

Yeah, I stated the driver side rotor had oil drenched on it when I received it. First rotor box was opened for passenger side, I'm guessing that all the oil coating went away over time sitting in their warehouse opened. Driver side rotor was sealed new. There's no more smoke and smell so it's all good for now
