this! 2013 had been a massive year for edm in North America. I just tallied up all of the events that I went to this year and it came close to $1600. :badpokerface: and this is ticket purchases alone...

If you were to save up for EDC, I would say $2000 should be sufficient enough for everything.

Been 2 years straight...need a change in scenery. It aint cheap and I felt I could of gone on a better vacay.

$1200 is the minimum just for 4 star hotel and tickets.
That doesn't include booze, molly, food and hotel pool parties.

yes tickets sell out hella fast. and i mean faster than events would here because half of north america is trying to buy.

VIP is your call. faster line up separate bar and higher view, but the line ups to get in last year were pretty quick

VIP was nice when I went last year but when I was in the vip section it felt disconnected from the energy of the party down below and closer to the stage. The air conditioned tent was nice and empty most often and bar line ups were short and sometimes empty. I did it as my first time to edc but this year ill do general admission even though I have the money for

Heard its best to pick up a shuttle pass, as it takes 2 hours to drive back after the event. Last thing you want to do is have someone drive for 2 hours after a long night of partying. Nice to be able to just rest or sleep on the bus.

these are 2 of my posts from 2013 EDC

From Aria, I took the shuttle at
7:15pm/4am Friday. 10 minute wait both ways. 45min-1hour ride time
9pm/4:30am Saturday. 10 minute wait both ways. 45min-1hour ride time
11pm/4:30am Sunday. walked right on/20 minute wait. 45min-1 hour ride time

Slept the whole way home all 3 days.

The only time I heard there was a wait was around 9pm friday on the way there. And obviously at 5:30am at the end of the night there was a fair bit of a wait getting home as there were so many people leaving at the same time.


Aria had one of the shorter wait lines by the looks of it but they all seemed to be moving alright. There were shuttles to 11 or 12 hotels. Each hotel had like 20+busses.

From what I heard about last year, this year was awesome. Id definitely recommend it. Granted, I never left at closing time.

Theres no way cabbing would be better than shuttling. $100 per trip x6 = $600 split 4 ways = $150.

And shuttles have priority. There was a 3 way intersection leaving EDC where the shuttle and cab route splits off from the main road. The shuttles came from one way and the cabs came from the other. The police were directing traffic and the shuttles had the right of way. The cabs all just sat there waiting. And we're talking like 200+ shuttles. And the whole thing was basically a 2 lane backroad so the cabs were stuck in the same traffic.

Personally, I would get the EDC shuttle passes. LOL @ being designated driver after EDC ;x There seems to be only one road going in & out of the event (the lines were crazy long). At least with the EDC shuttle you get to go on a private road with no traffic. Also, you don't have to take the same shuttle stop every time. You can choose whatever stop that's closest to your hotel or that has the shortest line. On the last day we stayed til the very end & got on a bus within 30 minutes.

So excited for next year EDC. This time going VIP :P

i rented a van with my friends. travel time was 30 mins at the most, except the last day. leaving the speedway after dash set was a gong show. took about 1hr 15mins to get back to the hotel. i heard people were waiting forever for their shuttles

You might want to look at The Venetian bella suites, 2 queen beds + L shaped sofa couch.

We are tentatively booked with the following:

June 19-24
Flight from YVR = $363 per person
Hotel - Stratosphere Signature room = ($389 + $15 daily resort fee)/4 people per room = ~$100 each

Total flight and hotel = ~$500 CAD
Probably as budget as you can get.

We booked the Stratosphere (expedia.ca) the day after we got our pre-sale tickets because it was a decent hotel with a super cheap sale going on, and they had free cancellation. We ideally wanted to get a house, but I think the hotel price is too cheap to pass up on. We've all done EDC, Vegas, and the pool parties before so we just want to experience all that is EDC, which is perfect since Stratosphere is North of the strip.

We stayed at Vdara in 2012 and the place was unreal! One of the nicest hotels ever; the rooms were a great size with a huge bathroom. The stratosphere is just a dinky room with two queen beds in it. But, you get what you pay for.

Oh, and the best part of the stratosphere is probably the McDonalds in the lobby, haha.

If you're taking the shuttle home, I recommend not staying til the VERY VERY end of each night, the line ups get longer and longer the later you go. (Which sucks, cause some of the later shows are really really good!! So you pick what's worth it to you). And make sure you find a shuttle that's has a stop at or CLOSEST to your hotel that you're staying at : )

i don't recommend the shuttle.

we paid a taxi driver $80 each way to take us there and wait for us to take us back. ended costing $80*2*3 = $480 for the 4 of us. that's $120 each compared to the $90 for shuttle passes.

it only took us approximately 30 minutes to get there and back each trip. our friends had to wait an hour to get on the shuttle and another hour or so on the bus each trip.

when they pick you up from the speedway, make sure they dont go into the cab line. tell him to wait 50 meters away and you just sneak right by the line. also make sure you plan ahead, eg. "meet us outside the cab line, near the toilets at 6:10am. I'm wearing a white tank and blue shorts"

They always wait until after EDCNY May 24th.

Its pretty crazy to think GA and VIP are both sold out, and they are saying 400,000 tickets this year, MONTHS before the lineup is even announced. They could say "lols no headliners this year :troll: " and everyone has already spent their ~$400 a ticket.

Hoping for W&W and Kaskade as neither were there last year. W&W was supposed to be there but pulled out right before for health issues. My GF really wants to see Calvin Harris as we missed 3/4 of his set last year because I was rocking hard at Knife Party. Aside from that, Im sure most of the usuals big names will all be there. except for deadmau5 lol.

i know most artists like to play alot of their new shit all the time. but ive always thought they should play their biggest tracks at uber-festivals, and keep the new shit for their regular shows. not just for EDM but all music. people go to mega festivals to see their favorite artists/bands play the songs they know, not to hear the new shit they are trying to sell a record for.

Realized only Arty is returning. Highlight of that night was probably him mixing in several classic Daft Punk tracks.

Other suggestions: Clockwork (sick edits and incorporates his RL Grime stuff is killer), Benny Benassi (when he played Satisfaction, shivers) and Andrew Rayel (wasn't at EDC LV last year but is this year).

Best thing about these DJs is that they're probably not playing main stage and probably in that domed shaped stage. More room to dance, more intimate and better sound IMO.

Edit: Yellow Claw (super rowdy) and Mat Zo are sick too. Kinda sad I'm not going this year. :(

I really liked Morgan Pages EDC set from last year.

Above and Beyond sucked pretty bad last year. Armin too.
