I actually dont mind the flag, atleast its not a huge china flag on the center of the hood (MMDESIGN) SMFH..

The flag is inappropriate because it represents the government of Japan, whose responsible for atrocious war crimes, during WW2.
Western equivalent would be a BMW with a Nazi flag on the hood.

Love the car, always wanted a 240/260Z.....not a fan of that flag tho...if you know your history you will understand.....or read what GGnoRE said.

Always liked this car. I think Rise did some work on it as it was on their website for a while. Congrats on the purchase. Must be a fun ride.

This. Not only is it incredibly tacky, it is very offensive to a lot of people. I would remove it for either or both of those reasons...

Wikipedia article on flag:

These things make news in Korea all the time for inappropriate use.
It's a sick car, and because it is, if you're unlucky, someone may take it upon themselves to vandalize your car.

Iirc, that's the Rise logo. Not really his fault that the flag is there, he bought it like that.

the flag came on the car when i got it. im going to be fixing up the body for a new paint job and its coming off! however i had an idea to put the flag in the headliner, i think it might look cool. what do you guys think?

Same thing happened when GSP was sponsored by a Gi company that also stupidly uses that for their logo. Korean fighters made a huge stink about it, and he stopped wearing them.
The logo is still used by their navy but rarely shown. Most of the time you'll see it is in the extreme political parties in Japan (their version of the Nazi party) when they are doing their demonstrations to try to kick all Koreans and Chinese out of their country.
Also Asahi Shinbun (newspaper company) uses one that is similar, but totally unrelated.
It would be smart and courteous to remove it, even if the company that modded it is ignorant enough to use it as their logo

If you want to put a flag on your car, go for it. You should be aware of what it represents though. For some context it is like unwittingly putting up a nazi flag (not just a swastika) on your car. Even if you don't know what it means for whatever reason, it's fine, but other people will.
You could argue that this flag represents even worse than the nazi flag, as Imperial Japan was far, far worse than Nazi germany in terms of what they did to people, and how widespread their line of thinking was throughout the country. With the Nazis, the atrocities were mostly kept within the higher ranks of the military, and kept from public. That wasn't the case in Japan back then.

I was mainly pointing it out since I know not everyone has the money to redo a paint job (regardless of how insensitive it might be), but since he's planning on redoing it anyway, not really relevant anymore lol.
I'll make sure I tell Raid3n that he probably shouldn't put his up (it's called the rising sun right? Just wanna make sure it's the correct one). Honestly though, I've never understood putting someone else's flag on your stuff. Sure it looks cool, but then there's situations like these that arise if you aren't of that nation/group/whatever. You might not know about negative connotations that come with it.

That's like saying, "I bought this Porsche with a swastika (sp?) on the side, I'm having it removed and going to have it put on the headliner".
It's your car, do what you like with it but just keep it in the back of your mind that you may seriously offend someone and they may take it out on your car.

That's not the most ideal fender modification, if they used body filler to cover the weld, be extremely careful when removing it, or the filler could crack between the headlight bucket and the fender. I don't know who built it, but I would take a good look at the underbody for poor repair work.
You can never be too careful with these cars...
These are a couple of good places to get replacement parts

where exactly are you talking about? the front fenders?

The front fenders and the headlight buckets are seperate pieces on factory Z's. The previous owner has clearly decided to combine the two, how I do not know.

Something else I noticed was that they installed anchors in the buckets for headlight covers (clear or solid), you could technically buy a pair and stick them on if you like the look.
Could you also take a more detailed photo of this area when you're back, it's the dogleg right in front of the rear wheel.

i like em without the cover personally. my next mod after the paintjob would be to get some nice fender flares for that fat ass look and some wheel spacers

i personally like the flag on the car...goes back to the theme of having a retro japanese sports car.
I wouldn't worry about the possible negative connotations in Vancouver. You can be as PC as possible and you'll still offend someone. Those that are sensitive to it are likely the same people who will make a comparison between JAL fleets and Kamikaze fighter planes because they both have a big red dot on their wing.
sorry for derailing the thread and I could care less if I got failed.

Nice lookin ride. I had a 71 240z years ago. Ended up being an unfinished project. Had to abandon cause was getting too costly. One day i'll do it again when i have the time and money.
Whats under the hood? is that fuel injected and/or a turbo i see?
