Vibes on Broadway was pretty decent. 16 bucks for ayce dinner. 21 if you want to add a bbq option.

Don't go in large groups though, they tend to mess up your orders and serve really slow.

I usually go to a place I like to eat Sushi at and order what I want. Usually the price I pay is about the same or less than if I ate at an ayce place; but then I'm not a big eater and I don't like to stuff myself.

rolls were pretty bad and they changed most of the specialty rolls (i.e. the miso and their 4 specialty rolls) into something disgusting.

Most of us know that AYCE is less quality, no need to state the obvious.
I love sashimi. If I were to order all the sashimi I want to eat, it would cost way more than the AYCE places. Also, AYCE sushi is one of the enjoyable 'cheat' days.

to be honest a lot of AYCE japanese started out pretty good, then went downhill fast.

one place for example is toyama in dt. and ninkazu.

for me, my personal fav's for AYCE are richmond sushi and kisha popo @ steveston

before i get flamed for richmond sushi, i have to say, that place went from decent to crap (for a long time) and now for the past year it has gone back to decent

p.s i strictly eat AYCE only wit my boys, and ONLY when im high as a kite

kingsway sushi is okay... richmond sushi seemed to have better service though. tomokazu and ninkazu are both alright. the one in richmond better again. kyo was good, loved their speciality rolls. shabusen is over rated i think... so expensive and it really isnt that great.

im more of a hot pot person though. fatty cow is pretty good, the soup is good, but theres too much crap floating in it. price is decent... if anyone goes make reservations first.
chubby lamb in richmond is good, reservations arent always needed but its a great environment. feels like im eating at home, and theres unlimited coke :D
cattle cafe hot pot? place is probably my least favourite, but they have mantou? deep friend mantou? deep fried buns and condensed milk :D
