Does anyone know where I can get some USD right now? I'm in the north van and will be in the Burnaby area. My bank doesn't open until 11am unfortunately:(

TIA!

Go to any one of the casino's in the Bellingham area. Their exchange rates are decent. Not great, but better than banks.

Silver Reef in Ferndale or Northwoods (Nooksack) in Lynden. Google it.

Further south is the Tulalip, Skagit Valley, and Angel of the Winds.

I suggest/recommend the Silver Thief........... I mean, Silver Reef.

Worst case, just use your Canadian bank card in a US ATM.

Haha... just checked border crossing times and they're at 10 to 15 minutes. Two weeks ago, it would have been two hours by now, LOL. I say stay till the bank opens up, or if you are in Burnaby, go to

Although it won't help you out right now but if you apply for the amazon visa, you get an awesome conversion rate without the 2.5% fee. In addition, you get points!

Do you need a US address to apply for that card?

No, it's a Canadian card but is accepted everywhere. You get 1% back on all purchases and 2% on amazon purchases.

^ By all means, take advantage of their offer. Just make sure you pay your monthly bills and stay ahead. They're "banking" on people losing control of their spending, and at 19.9%, they're raking in the profits.

^Don't all major credit cards have a starting interest rate of at least 19.9%?

Also, the advantage of having a $US account is that it makes returns easy without losing on conversion.

^Some even more, but people tend to forget this minor detail called interest and get into horrible debt. Just pointing it out. Never hurts to remind people. I am debt free from credit cards, but I'm probably in the minority.

+1 for the Amazon VISA

It's the only card I use for US shopping.
