Basically my brother who is in excellent shape, was [up until this injury] a gym/health nut has had chronic SEVERE back pain for almost two years now
He has had ultrasounds, MRI's, Xrays, etc. to no avail in finding the problem, massage therapy, chiro, yoga, etc. has resulted in nothing
our family doctor is pretty much useless, she's very young and basically runs her practice like a walk-in clinic messed up his initial MRI resulting in us having to pay another $600 at a private clinic because the area in question was not examined in the first pass.
in his research he's come upon "Ankylosing spondylitis"
Ankylosing spondylitis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
which basically sounds exactly what he's been experiencing for the past two years and he is in the exact age bracket many experience it in. The problem is he now lives in Williams lake for his COOP program and the health care there is terrible [IE. they will not even prescribe any opiates because how serious addiction/drug trade is there]
So his problem is that he has very limited windows in which to seek treatment/advice as a COOP student he cannot take time off, and yes i know Health is obviously more important than school but this is his final year of COOP for an engineering degree.
So basically i'm looking for recommendations in doctors/specialists/sports medicine who are highly regarded, have some experience with this, and will take proactive action in treating him
any recommendations would be great, thanks
