: Scraped my bumper, recommend a body shop?

Long story short, an idiot cut in front of me and to avoid hitting him, I didn't calculate the space between the wall and I properly and I scraped it quite well.

BJ BMW quoted me at 300-350, but I'd like to know my options and what's out there before I drop that kind of money. If anyone can suggest a reputable body shop please let me know!

300-350 is quite cheap to be honest. Does that price include R an I's?

Boyd Autobody in Burnaby near the Kingsway Whitespot.

$300-350 is actually a really good deal.

That'st he kind of pricing you would expect from an Asia cash-only job.

Buffed out the surrounding area, honestly it's not that bad, just a huge strip of paint missing.

I'll give him a call. If he can do $250 or less and drive away on the same day I'll be a happy camper.

The service adviser at BMW looked at my damage and quoted me "$300-$350" and "bring it in in the morning and you can drive it away in a few hours" however I smell bs, especially when the cash-only Asian body shops also quoted me at about the same price, give or take some.

He's probably thinking touch up paint with some wet sanding... Not going to be repaired properly in a "few hours".

I think the 300-350 quote is going to be a color works type of job.
(mask off bumper, paint just the corner and blend it within the bumper)

Service adviser at BJ BMW told me it'd be sanding + repainting + buffing. It's a lease after all and it's going back in December, so it makes sense for me to do it at BMW to save any potential crap when the car is being returned. They're not doing it in-house either, sending it out to a shop up the street which is the shop Boundary Mercedes sends their cars out too, called something One, forgot the name.

EDIT: It's called No.1 Collision

You should go to No 1 and get an estimate from them. It will be more than $350 to do it properly at No 1, unless they are just going to spot paint it. Which is the incorrect way to fix it but if BJBMW doesn't care about there lease returns, whatever.

Personally I'd just buy a touch-up pen from BMW, touch it up and then see what happens when you return it. Maybe this happens again before the lease is up and you'll be spending the money again.

No. 1 Collision is noted as the designated shop for most BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, etc however when they repaired and repainted my ITR it was single-handedly the worst job I have ever seen in my entire life. EVER. I actually chose them specifically because of the all the high end work they are known for. A mistake I will hopefully never make again.

Agreed, No.1 Collision gave me one of the worst paint jobs I've seen on my trunk lid. Another time, they didn't even clean up all the broken glass when my car got broken into, there were still a ton of glass pieces under my carpet. Just really sloppy.

I'll be taking my car to Fast Track in Richmond next week, or when they get a courtesy car in.
Anyone recommend them before I drop off?

Talked to Peter at Jetway and got a pretty positive response. Seems like a real genuinely nice guy who's willing to help out. $300, drop it off in the morning get it in the evening. Done deal

Yup, your name and car but he didn't seem to really care, sort of gave me the "oh yeah ok so what do you need etc." kind of response :lawl: and told me BMW is lying to me with the $300-$350 quote  Driving it there tomorrow morning to drop it off and picking it up in the evening. Will report back on how the work is.

He was able to book me in for tomorrow because there just happens to be an E92 328i in Alpine White that needs its front bumper repainted as well, so he's doing two cars with the same paint code lol

How do you cut someone off in a parking lot? That or you managed to hop a curb and hit the wall on the side of a building.

It was in a parkade, and some guy was barreling down the oncoming lane and decided to suddenly swerve into my lane, and as an impulsive spur of the moment reaction I abruptly swerved my car right and as a result scraped my bumper on the wall by miscalculating the distance between the wall and my bumper.

I never put the blame on anyone else. What is there to lie about :suspicious:

Came back from Jetway. Peter did an awesome job, bumper was removed, paint was stripped, sanded, primed, repainted and polished. Professional and quick. Thanks for the recommendation J.C and Recon, I'll definitely be recommending them to anyone who needs bodywork done
