Just played my first match on the beta and all I can say is holy fuck

Like really, that's all I can say... Half the time I had no idea what was going on

To be fair, I haven't played a multiplayer shooter regularly since I moved to Hong Kong probably.. so 7 years now? I may have played occasionally at my old place when I had good internet, but even then, probably not much.

So the last game I played regularly was Battlefield 2, in 2006 or so. I completely missed out on the genre since then, and this is supposed to be the 'next step forward' from all that I had missed

I will say that it plays really well, and I will definitely play it some more...

See if you can get into the beta (http://www.titanfall.com/beta) and maybe we can get some matches going. It might have helped that I am in a country where probably not many people have signed up for the beta, I'm not sure. Maybe they are just accepting a ton of people before the game comes out.

At the end of the match, you can run to an extraction point and escape to earn some extra XP. It was on the top of a building, and like NOTHING I wall-ran around a corner, did some double jumps, and got up there. It was my FIRST MATCH and it was so natural to navigate to the building. That was pretty amazing.

If you manage to sneak up on someone, it's a guaranteed kill. If they spot you, and they are a good shot, they can take you before your pistol homes in on the 3 shots required for a kill

AI is only there to build up your score, they are all but harmless. Like "creeps" in a MOBA game.

But it's good they're there for people who are new or not very good, as they can still make a pretty big difference in whether your team wins or loses.

i believe the closest cod had to ranked matches were...

still didn't really help when you fight a clan of guys who know what they're doing.

to be honest, i think it's cod's annual release is killing the game. players are scattered across mw1,2,3,ghost + blackops1,2. when i first started playing mw2 and blops1, there were between 300-600k people online at any given time. now, you'll probably find just under 100k per title.

activision's doing 3 year releases now, likely rotating between what's left of infinity ward, treyarc, and now sledgehammer games. cod is gg unless they go mmo.. which is where destiny comes in.

anyone else got sent the wrong platform code and now using this link to try and fix it, however the link is wonky and would only load half the time. even then, trying to login first for me would bring up an empty pop up box and using the other links in the site loads up blank pages.

the AIs are part of the game, it helps you cut down on time to summon your titan.. overall they are fun addition to shooting things.

seriously why is it a big deal with people with 6v6 capped? this is more of a balance thing, if its not a big deal with call of duty, then it shouldnt be on this game. having 3 titans running around in same side of the team is already making the maps feel tiny, imagine if both sides of 6 has one

I would recommend playing the campaign, the story is kind of useless but adds atmosphere to the game which is cool considering it's an online FPS. You will also figure out which map type you like, etc. And of course, you unlock the titans

team work is essentially non existant in this game even on domination.. you just do your thing, attack, defend etc..

and move constantly, you never know if one of the dudes on the other team is using a smart pistol

and ya play the campaign, its pretty much the multiplayer with real time cut scenes, it doesnt matter wether you win or lose, you progress no matter what.

If you kill multiples more than you die, you are killing far more enemies than the majority of players I've seen.

When I get a high KDR, it's because I selfishly stayed in my Titan and smoked a bunch of pilots rather than help my team capture points... So I have a sweet looking KDR, but our team lost because I didn't get or defend any capture points.

i actually get my kills mostly on foot and let my titan roam around in auto, ill changed my gameplay once in awhile and get in my ogre titan with canon and electric smoke.. then ill just brute force punch my way around other titans.. the electric smoke comes really handy when an enemy rodeos your titan

iv actually been encountering some insanely skillful players.. iv had someone kill me while i was wall jumping only to watch the kill cam and find out iv been stalked and got kicked while i was in the air.. give it weeks and skill disparity in this game going to be insane

Runs great for me on a 280x. I have vsync on and everything turned up but shadows and AA. I prefer smooth FPS over smooth lines :)

Crossfire almost never works on new games. Wait for the next driver update before using it. Nvidia usually releases a driver the day a big game is released, so they don't have as big of a problem.

I found that I loved playing as a titan, but not a pilot, at least in terms of combat. I was trying to figure out why, then I came to the realization that I spent most of my life playing FPS games like Quake, Quake 2, Half Life, Team Fortress, and various Quake mods. Some Unreal, and other games.

I rarely ever played games where you fire down a scope. I find that the 0.5s or whatever it is to bring up the scope throws me off every time. I just suck with most weapons.

So I switched to the shotgun, and hip fire everyone I see. I do MUCH better, and my overall KD is now over 5x.

I don't think it's OP as you have to be pretty close for it to be effective. I just like not having to scope.

As for walls, he could be using a hack, who knows

iv actually been mixing up playing titan and pilot

for titan, i like to equip ogre with canon and electric smoke... comes in handy when an enemy rodeos you, usually you can hear when someone hops on your back before a notification on screen pops up.. you will hear a distinct "bump" sound... remember it takes couple of second before an enemy can fire through your shield since they still need to open the hatch

lol i find shotgun users hilarious, usually would panic and would just spray anywhere if i get close to them, i equip speed instead of cloak and just run and jump and melee them.. works really well indoors if im playing domination

use wall hang if you ever situation, you know another player is chasing you through the map, good way to trick them once u get into an interior or side of building

sometimes ill play with smg and use a tier that allows to hip fire while running, comes in handy for close to medium range and i never have to aim down the sight unless its long range

no, what i meant is equip run and gun tier (you unlock this in lvl 30s) and you can hip fire while running.. this only applies with smg

equipping the tier doesnt slow you down or stops you from running while firing.. smg still needs to be use with aiming down the sight beyond medium range..

if your always on the move, this comes really handy..

just went through my first "prestige" or generation as they call it in this game..

had weekend not come up i would have hit the max level 50 by fri night or just under 13 hours... my 2nd play through it said it will increase the xp by 110%.. and i suppose for everytime you go through generation, the levelling xp increases more

Honestly when I see people with a high prestige level in COD especially in the early going the first thought that comes to mind isn't that they're showing off, it's get a fucking life and get a job or a gf lol.

You can see some of my matches on my twitch channel. It might be kind of boring though, since I mostly defend hardpoints. I might only see 5-10 people in a match, but they die way more than I do usually, unless it's a map I am totally unfamiliar with or just not in a 'groove' ;)

the challenges are actually very forgiving in this game compared to cod.. i keep seeing alot of 10,000 to 14,000xp bonuses in my play through.. and for every time you go through generations, xp is doubled so going from 1 to 50 gets shorter than first play through

there is a maxed of 10 Generation levels...... this dude maxed out in 4 days

i was a pc gamer turned console gamer.. the last time i built a pc was in 2008 and last pc game i got into for online was bf bad company 2.. over the past couple of years i just turned to cod in consoles

when titanfall beta came out and i played on pc at my buddies and x1 on my brother, i decided its time i built a new pc and get back into using kb\m

took me a month to get back into my comfort zone with team fortress 2 and bf3/4.. now i do really well with kb/m

i tried playing titanfall with 360 controller on pc...the first thing you will notice is aim assist when u go ADS on your enemy as they move.. its not noob aim assist like smart pistol in the game but its something your sights will stick your enemy for 1 sec or less

i actually find it that the entire game is built with controller in mind, navigating the menu and such.... and alot of weapons have big splash damage so you dont have to be completely precise with your shots

last time i played was last week sometime havent had much time to play but even when i do play im bored quickly

game isnt what i expected, i was expecting it to be more expansive/in depth (little more RPG like), this seems really basic as if they had bigger plans but are just giving us a glimpse of the final game

Likewise, the game definitely wasn't what I expected either especially the campaign portion. Sometimes I can't even tell the difference between playing a random campaign round vs an online game because it's really just the same to me. Also expected an insane campaign with a more compelling story line and epic battles.
