Just received this letter so I thought I would make a post in case you've got a dyson heater too and don't know about it
FYI they catch fire
https://www.dysonrecall.com/images/dyson.jpg
We抮e voluntarily recalling all AM04 and AM05 heaters due to a potential safety issue. Out of a million heaters sold worldwide, we know of a small number that have short-circuited resulting in a small fire contained within the machine. There have been no instances of injury or property damage, but safety is our first priority.
That's why we抮e recalling all machines and implementing an engineering fix in each one.
The fix is free (including collection and delivery), and we've made it as easy as possible for you. Here's what will happen:
Registration
There are just three simple steps on this website to register your heater for the fix.
Collection, fix and service
We'll collect your heater and fix it. We'll also give it a free full service and clean.
Return and warranty
We'll deliver it back to you, along with a new 2 year warranty covering parts and labour.
go to this website and fill out the form https://www.dysonrecall.com/en-CA/Info

I thought it was overpriced at first too, but I gave it as a christmas gift and got a kobo out of it so i didn't care
After experiencing it though i will say it works much better than "a $40 heater" no burning odour and it heats from a considerable distance, etc.
I was quite impressed and would be willing to get myself one but i've no need for a heater
But this news kind of puts a downer on it especially being a gift "hey you know that gift i got you well...":/

I have one of these. To be fair though I didn't pay anywhere close to $500 for it. I only paid $249.
It does heating, cooling and just has a plain fan so its actually a pretty good investment for my perpetually cold or hot office at work. I'll admit though I bought it cause it looks cool, and for something that sits in plain view in my office I want something nice.
The other bonus is it is decently quiet although I'm sure other heaters at half the cost are quiet as well.
Either way thanks for the heads up OP I didn't know about the recall.

I'm more curious about the fan since I can't stand that annoying sound normal fans give off.
Don't have their heater but I do have this badboy

IT'S AMAZING. I was using a traditional upright before and always figured my carpets were clean. Then I started using the Dyson and the canister filled up quickly. Can't believe how deep it goes in the fibers.
The only misleading thing is how easy it is to empty the canister. What they don't show is how messy it is. The dust becomes ash and goes airborne quickly. I don't recommend it emptying it inside. I just empty the canister right into a garbage bag outside.

Agree with you 100%.
I have the DC23 Turbinehead Animal from a few years ago:

And I'm very happy with it. They put a lot of thought into designing it. My only complaint is that the hose could be a bit longer.
If you can manage to pick up a Dyson vacuum on sale, then I'd say it's worth it.

a lot of companies have started to use the multi cyclone cylinder design.
even hoover etc.
u can find cheaper, perhaps a bit crapper... but at least 2-6x cheaper. and yes, any cyclone design is like WAY stronger than conventional upright.
the day i got mine i tested by using my old one and vacuumed my entire carpet. then i would go over with the cyclone one, and i was so surprised how much more shit it picked up.
