Don't forget about the North Vancouver Market as well. It's opening up tonight!
Welcome to the North Shore Green Markets website (http://www.northshoregreenmarket.com/)
It's got a much different crowd. Significantly less asians and more white families. They have a ton of booths and lots of food trucks. I liked this one much more than the Richmond ones because there were barely any rude mainlanders and a much more enjoyable family atmosphere.

It was already dead last year without the admission fee...I can only imagine how dead it'd be this year.

I prefer the admission charge...it makes the parking lot much less hectic getting in and out. As said before, lots of stalls not open yet but what is open food wise is nice...more variety. There was an indian food booth (tried the butter chicken and it was delish) and a marble slab booth that hadn't opened up yet.

Indian booths' butter chicken is good, but it's a full plate so doesn't give you much room to try other stuff.
Singapore jerky was a nice quick snack while deciding what else to eat.
Cream filled cylinder pastries (??) are funny to watch fobs eat, not sure how they taste.

Surrey Night Market (http://www.surreynightmarket.com)
Looks legit. News1130 is reporting on it:
SURREY (NEWS1130) – People in Surrey won’t have to drive far to take in a night market this summer.
One will take place at the Cloverdale Rodeo grounds, starting July 4th. It will be similar to the night market in Richmond.
“It’s about time we had something of our own in Surrey,” says organizer Satbir Cheema.
“It’ll be totally multicultural. There’ll be food from different nationalities, different cultures. There’ll be vendors with different products,” says Cheema, who adds more than 120 people have already shown interest in setting up a booth.
There will also be entertainment at the market.
“There’ll be a stage where we’ll have three performances… [from] the local talent,” says Cheema.
The Surrey Night Market will run on Friday and Saturday nights from July 4th to August 30th.

Went to the HD NM for the first time in 3 years. The big red awning food stall that hogs up the corner selling shrimp dumplings have gotten a lot worse than before.
There seems to be more variety than before. I saw like 4 stands selling those over-rated potato sticks for $4 and all had quite a line-up.
My favourites were the Fish'n Chips and Fish God and the Chinese bun and BAOger.

How was the surrey location? Tried to go there last night at 10 thinking there would be less line up. When i got there the line up was a a gong show. I think they only have 1 entrance so a good 100+ people were lined up from the entrance all the way to the parking lot. I turned around as soon as i saw it and trying to get out of there was even worse. 2 lanes in/out but no sidewalk so i was basically inches away from the pedestrians.
I will try again next week.
